Durante algum tempo o meu Bloglovin e Instagram enchia-se de fotos e posts do Mercado de Campo de Ourique. Tinha muita vontade de visitá-lo também para comprovar as suas semelhanças (e diferenças) com o famoso Mercado de San Miguel aqui de Madrid, mas só na nossa última viagem a  Portugal agora em Fevereiro consegui arranjar um tempo para lá ir. Fomos na sexta-feira, tentámos ir antes das oito da noite para não apanhar muita gente mas quando algo está na moda, está e por isso estava á pinha.
For some time my Bloglovin and Instagram was filled with photos and posts from the Campo de Ourique Market. Had long wanted to visit also to check it’s similarities (and differences) with the famous Mercado de San Miguel from Madrid, but only on our last trip to Portugal in February I could arrange a time to go there. We went on a Friday, we tried to go before eight in the evening to catch it more empty but when something is in fashion, it is and therefore it was packed.

O Natal é aquele momento familiar reunida á volta de uma mesa com bacalhau, bolo-rei, sonhos e outras frituras, assim manda a tradição. Para escapar ao traditional decidimos ir jantar fora e á procura de um sitio para hamburguers demos com um de pregos. Parece que a febre saiu dos centros comerciais e já encontrou um lugar “cool” onde comer um bife no pão. Mas não é um bife qualquer…este é do lombo e nota-se a diferença.
Christmas is that moment in time family is gathered around a table with cod, king cake (bolo-rei), “sonhos” and other fried foods, so tradition dictates. To escape the traditional we decided to go out to dinner and looking for a place to hamburgers we found this “pregos” (a beef sándwich) place. It seems that the latest gourmet fever left the shopping malls and found a “cool” place to eat a steak on bread. But it is not just any steak… this is the tenderloin and one can notice the difference.

A Padaria Portuguesa – Lisboa, Portugal

Tenho tanta mas tanta vontade de abrir uma A Padaria Portuguesa aqui em Madrid para poder ter á mão os pastéis de nata, o pão de ló de chocolate, as fatias de salame de chocolate, o pão acabado de fazer, os queques, o doce de abóbora, o pão com chouriço. Tudo o que tenho saudades da nossa boa pastelaria e que aqui lá vou encontrando substitutos mas não estão todos debaixo do mesmo tecto.
I have so much desire to open a The Portuguese Bakery here in Madrid in order to have nearby the custard cream tarts (pastéis de nata), chocolate sponge cake, slices of salami chocolate (salame de chocolate), freshly baked bread, muffins, the pumpkin jam, the chorizo bread. All that I miss from our good pastries that here I start finding some substitutes but are not all under the same roof.

Pizzeria Mezzogiorno – Lisboa, Portugal

A Mezzogiorno foi outro restaurante que não estava nos nossos planos e aconteceu porque tivémos que prolongar a nossa reunião no hotel e no dia que estava a pesquisar restaurantes vi no Google maps este. Depois de um dia a provar a culinária portuguesa optámos por almoçar neste italiano cujo seu melhor cartão de visita é o forno a lenha que podemos ver assim que descemos as escadas.
The Mezzogiorno was another restaurant that was not in our plans and it happened because we had to extend our meeting at the hotel and in the day that I was searching for restaurants I saw this on Google maps. After a day tasting the Portuguese cuisine we opted for lunch at this Italian whose best visit card is the woodstove that we can see going down the stairs.

Bairro Alto Terrace – Lisboa, Portugal

Mais um fim de semana em Lisboa e sempre na correria de ver amigos e familia, ainda assim conseguimos ter um tempo para ir até á famosa esplanada do Bairro Alto Hotel que segundo dizem tem a quarta melhor vista do mundo e eu…confirmo!
Estacionámos no Largo de Camões e foi só atravessar a estrada, passar as portas do hotel e no elevador carregar no seis. Pouco depois chegamos á pequena esplanada com uma grande vista.
Another weekend in Lisbon and always in a rush to see friends and family, we still managed to have some time to go to the famous Bairro Alto Hotel‘s terrace which they say has the fourth best view of the world and I … can confirm it!
We parked our car in Largo Camões and it was just cross the street, pass the hotel doors and press level six in the elevator. Shortly after we arrive to this small terrace with a great view.

Parque Eduardo VII – Lisboa, Portugal

Ao visitar o Parque Eduardo VII não pude evitar aquele sentimento de emigrante de orgulho tirando fotos a todos os detalhes e muitas á bandeira. É a típica situação de que quando deixas de viver naquela que era a tua cidade começas a valorizar lugares que nem nunca foram dos teus preferidos e este parque é um deles. Na realidade, passava por ele sem nunca lhe dar grande importância, sem nunca aproveitar a vista singular que tem sobre a cidade de Lisboa e a Margem Sul.
While visiting the Parque Eduardo VII I could not avoid that emigrant feeling of pride taking pictures of all the details and a lot to the flag. It is the typical situation when you stop living in what was your town you begin to appreciate places that never were your favorites and this park is one of them. In fact,I passed through it many times without ever giving it great importance, never enjoying the unique views it has over the city of Lisbon and South side.

Gelataria Amorino – Lisboa, Portugal

Ao passear pela Rua Augusta encontrámos a Gelataria Amorino e decidimos que depois do almoço na Taberna Moderna os famosos gelados em forma de flor seriam a nossa sobremesa. A primeira e única vez que comemos um gelado da Amorino foi na cidade francesa de Bordéus e lembro-me que adorámos, quisémos repetir a boa experiencia que tivémos.
Strolling along Rua Augusta we found the Gelataria Amorino and decided that after having lunch at the famous Taberna Moderna we would have the flower shaped ice cream for dessert. The first and only time I ate an ice cream from Amorino was in the French city of Bordeaux and remember that we loved, we wanted to repeat the experience we have done good.

CAIS DA PEDRA – LISBOA, PORTUGAL

Cá por Madrid os hamburguers (principalmente os gourmet) continuam na moda e são o tema de novos restaurantes. Em Lisboa pelos vistos também estão e seguramente o Cais da Pedra ajudará a construir a reputação de um formato dominado pelas cadeias de fast-food.
Devo admitir que quando marquei mesa no Cais nem sabia que o prato principal era esse, sabia apenas que era do Henrique Sá Pessoa e como tive uma boa experiência no Alma decidi experimentar. Foi num dia especial (o meu aniversário), fui com amigos o que o melhorou e muito a nossa experiência.
In Madrid the burgers (especially gourmet) are still popular and are the topic of new restaurants. In Lisbon apparently are also and surely Cais da Pedra will help build the reputation of a format dominated by fast-food chains.
I must admit that when I booked a table at the Cais I did not even know this was the main course, I knew only that it was Henrique Sá Pessoa and as I had a good experience at Alma so I decided to try. It was a special day (my birthday), I went with friends which improved and much our experience.

A visita ao Palácio da Ajuda foi uma promoção 2×1, fomos ver a exposição da Joana Vasconcelos e acabámos por conhecê-lo por dentro algo que nunca tinha feito enquanto vivi em Portugal.
A sua construção inicia no século XVIII durante o reinado de D. José e no século XIX foi residência oficial da Familia Real, hoje em dia para além das salas que podemos visitar têm sede aqui alguns organismos públicos assim como a Biblioteca.
The visit to Ajuda Palace was like a 2×1 promotion, we went to see the exhibition of Joana Vasconcelos and we finally discover it something we had never done while living in Portugal.
Its construction started in the eighteenth century during the reign of King Joseph and in the nineteenth century  itwas the official residence of the Royal Family, today besides the rooms that we can visit some public offices are installed here as well as the Library.

Landeau Chocolate – Lisboa, Portugal

Depois do almoço na Cantina reservámos o espaço da sobremesa para comer um bolo de chocolate na Landeau. O espaço é acolhedor repleto de preciosidades saídas de uma loja de antiguidades ou do Rastro, para além de provar o bolo tínhamos vontade de levar connosco alguma daquelas peças vintage que decoravam a Landeau e te faziam sentir em casa.
After lunch at Cantina we set aside some room for dessert to eat a chocolate cake in Landeau. The space is cozy is filled with gems out of an antique shop or the Rastro, in addition to tasting the cake we wanted to take with us some of those vintage pieces that decorated the Landeau and made ​​you feel at home.
