A zona da Ribeira ganhou outra vida graças ao Mercado, á sua volta são vários os novos restaurantes que abrem e que são uma alternativa ás multidões que já descobriram o Timeout Market. O Sala de Corte é uma delas (ou era porque vão mudar de local). Para os amantes da carne, aqui vão encontrar o novilho com maturação 21 dias e os seus vários cortes como picanha, vazia, entrecote, lombo e Chateaubriand.

The area of Ribeira is again more lively thanks to the Market, around it several new restaurants have opened and are an alternative to the crowds that have already discovered the Timeout Market. The Sala de Corte is one of them (or it was because they will change places). For lovers of meat, here you will find the steer with maturation 21 days and its various cuts such as picanha, empty, entrecote, loin and Chateaubriand.

Nestas férias de Natal em Lisboa tinha claro que queria ir conhecer o Bairro do Avillez e tentámos ir cedo para escapar á confusão chegando perto da uma tarde. Conseguimos mesa na parte de trás da Taberna antes da passagem para o Restaurante, ao chegar tens de optar se a um ou a outro porque as cartas são diferentes e não se complementam. Como ia com os miúdos optei pela Taberna porque sabia que iam gostar do Prego em Bolo de Caco entre outros pratos que constam nessa carta.

During these Christmas holidays in Lisbon I had it clear that I wanted to go to Bairro da Avillez and tried to go early to avoid the crowds arriving close to one in the afternoon. We got a table in the back of the Tavern before passing to the Restaurant, upon arriving you have to choose one or the other because the menus are different and do not complement each other. As I was going with the kids I opted for the Tavern because I knew that they would like the Prego in Bun of Caco among other dishes that appear in that letter. Gelataria Fragoleto – Lisboa, Portugal

Não há dia do Verão que eu não queira um gelado e mesmo nas estações mais frias sempre arranjo maneira de comer. Creio que nos últimos anos as gelatarias voltaram a estar na moda, talvez o Santini se leve grande parte da responsabilidade mas lugares como o Fragoleto ganham o seu espaço na cidade com novos sabores que se juntam aos mais tradicionais.

There is no day of the summer I do not want an icecream and even in the cooler seasons I always find a way to eat them. I believe that in recent years the ice cream parlors are back in fashion, perhaps Santini has most of the responsibility for this but places like Fragoleto earn their space in the city with new flavors that come together with more traditional ones. The World Needs Nata, egoístamente pensando não quero saber se o mundo precisa de Nata eu sei que preciso dela e enquanto passeava por Lisboa decidi parar aqui para matar saudades de um bom pastel de nata. Nada retira uma visita aos famosos Pastéis de Belém mas no que diz respeito ao de nata parecia que podíamos comer em qualquer pastelaria e não é bem assim, a Manteigaria e a Nata Lisboa vêm demonstrar que podem ser muito bons e parecidos ao original.
The World Needs Cream, thinking selfishly I do not care if the world needs Nata I know I need it and while walking through Lisbon I decided to stop here to catch up with a good custard tart. Not to detract from a visit to the famous Pastel de Belém but with regard to the “nata” it seemed we could eat anywhere but is not so, the Manteigaria and Nata Lisboa come to demonstrate that they can be very good and similar to the original.

Cantinho do Avillez – Lisboa, Portugal

Conseguimos na Páscoa ir a outro dos restaurantes do José Avillez, o seu Cantinho. Fica no Chiado ao lado da sua Pizzeria e muito perto do Belcanto, digamos que com poucos passos o Chef Avillez pode vigiar os seus restaurantes. É sempre conveniente reservar mesmo sendo só duas pessoas, nós por exemplo só conseguimos mesa para as 22h30, nenhum problema pelo o nosso horário espanhol.
Gostei muito do ambiente do restaurante, descontraído e acolhedor, simples e com alguns detalhes tradicionais, gostei de estar sentada e ver a bancada de preparação das sobremesas.
We were able to go this Easter to another restaurant of José Avillez, his Cantinho (= Little Corner). Is in the Chiado next to his Pizzeria and very close to Belcanto, let’s say that with few steps Chef Avillez can watch all his restaurants. It is always convenient to book even if it is just for two people, for example we only got a table for 22.30, no problem because of our Spanish time.
I really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant, relaxed and friendly, simple and with some traditional details, enjoyed sitting down and watch the preparation of desserts counter.
