As Barrancas de Burujón são um excelente exemplo da força da natureza, forjadas pelo vento e pela força do rio Tejo são como um mini Canyon a trinta minutos de Toledo. Estão dentro de um parque natural e para visitar o caminho é algo sinuoso, nem sempre conseguem passar dois carros e o lugar para estacionar é limitado (mas perfeitamente possível de conseguir). Conta num dos miradouros com um parque de piqueniques que pode ser agradável na Primavera ou no Outono.

The Barrancas de Burujón are an excellent example of the strength of nature, forged by the wind and by the strength of the Tagus River they are like a mini canyon thirty minutes from Toledo. They are inside a natural park and to visit the road is somewhat winding, not always able to pass two cars and the place to park is limited (but perfectly possible to get). Count on one of the belvederes with a picnic park that can be enjoyable in the spring or autumn.

Nuevo Almacén – Toledo, Espanha

Se queres provar a comida mais típica de Toledo talvez seja melhor ir a outro restaurante, o Nuevo Almacén é um agradável lugar no coração da cidade que se assume como um gastrobar e que está sempre cheio ao fim de semana. A sua sala principal está sempre cheia de gente a beber vinho ou cerveja acompanhados de uma tapa que oferecem ou com uns pinchos que têm expostos. A sua carta é por isso mais de “picoteo” não deixando de ter alguns dos pratos que estão mais na moda sem esquecer os clássicos.

If you want to taste the most typical food of Toledo maybe it is better to go to another restaurant, the Nuevo Almacén is a pleasant place in the heart of the city that claims to be a gastrobar and that is always full at the weekend. Their main room is always full of people drinking wine or beer accompanied by a tapa that they offer or with pinchos that they have displayed. Its menu is therefore more of a “picoteo” having some of the dishes that are more in demand right now without forgetting the classics.

Igreja de San Ildefonso – Toledo, Espanha

Num dos nossos passeios de um dia a Toledo entrámos nesta igreja de estilo barroco construída no século XVII mais conhecida como a Igreja dos Jesuítas. Foi uma agradável surpresa, não esperávamos um interior tão branco e luminoso, muito menos ornamentada do que o seu estilo arquitetónico poderia indicar não deixando ao mesmo tempo de ser interessante. Está dedicada a San Ildefonso de Toledo que é o santo padroeiro da cidade.

In one of our day trips to Toledo we entered this baroque style church built in the seventeenth century better known as the Church of the Jesuits. It was a pleasant surprise, we did not expect an interior so white and bright, much less ornate than its architectural style could indicate while not letting it be interesting. It is dedicated to San Ildefonso de Toledo who is the patron saint of the city.

Porta e ponte de Alcántara – Toledo, Espanha

Igual de importante que a Ponte de San Martín mas talvez menos famosa, a Ponte de Alcântara conecta as duas margens do rio Tejo desde a Porta com o mesmo nome até ao Castelo de San Servando. De um lado uma porta de traçado medieval do outro uma de estilo barroco que veio a substituir a anterior que estava em mau estado. Não passam carros tal como na de San Martín e desde a outra ponta podemos ver uma parte de Toledo principalmente a zona do Alcazar.

Just as important as the San Martín bridge but perhaps less famous, the Alcântara Bridge connects the two banks of the Tagus River from the Door with the same name to the Castle of San Servando. On one side a medieval tracing door on the other a baroque style that came to replace the previous one that was in poor condition. There are no cars such as San Martin and from the other end we can see a part of Toledo mainly the area of the Alcazar.

Cristo de la Luz – Toledo, Espanha

Transformada em igreja, é na realidade uma das mesquitas em melhor estado da cidade. O seu nome era Bab al-Mardum e foi construída no ano de 999 durante o Califato de Córdoba.  Não é muito grande e servia como local de culto para os que entravam em Toledo pela primeira vez e o faziam pela porta com o mesmo nome.  E se a construção é antiga, mais ainda foi a descoberta de vestigios da civilização romana que aqui viveu.

Transformed into a church, it is actually one of the best preserved mosques of the city. Its name was Bab al-Mardum and was built in the year 999 during the Caliphate of Cordoba. It is not very big and served as a place of worship for those who entered Toledo for the first time and did so through the door with the same name. And if the construction is old, still more was the discovery of vestiges of the Roman civilization that lived here.

Senda Ecológica – Toledo, Espanha

Num desses fim de semanas soleados de Madrid decidimos ir até Toledo (uma viagem de carro de menos de uma hora) e aproveitar para conhecer a sua rota ecológica que nos oferece um passeio junto ao Tejo. É a outra face da antiga capital do império que marca distância das suas estreitas ruas e amontoado de edificios para começar a ver apenas verde. O caminho é fácil de percorrer principalmente com crianças (que era o nosso caso) e está bem acondicionado.

On one of those sunny weeks in Madrid we decided to go to Toledo (a car trip of less than an hour) and enjoy to know its ecological route that offers us a walk along the Tagus. It is the other side of the ancient capital of the empire that marks away from its narrow streets and heaps of buildings to begin to see only green. The path is easy to navigate mainly with children (which was our case) and is well-conditioned.

Entramos na segunda parte do nosso passeio por Toledo, procurávamos a mesquita da Luz de Cristo quando pelo caminho encontrámos a Igreja dos Jesuítas também conhecida por San Ildefonso. O seu interior branco e tranquilo chama a atenção, o seu estilo barroco vem da sua longa construção desde o século XVII ao XVIII e por estar num dos pontos mais altos da cidade tem uma excelente vista panorâmica subindo a uma das suas torre.

We enter the second part of our tour of Toledo, we were looking for the mosque of the Light of Christ (Mesquita da Luz de Cristo) when we found the Jesuit Church also known as San Ildefonso. Its white and quiet interior draws attention, its Baroque style comes from its long construction from the seventeenth century to the eighteenth and for being one of the highest points of the city has an excellent panoramic view going up to one of its towers.

Quase todos os anos fazemos um passeio a Toledo, como vamos pouco tempo conseguimos ver sempre algo novo de cada vez, pelo menos novo para nós. Outrora a capital do império espanhol mantém os seus encantos e as suas misturas arquitetónicas entre o medieval e a mudéjar. O passeio começou junto ao Alcázar onde estacionámos o carro e entrámos na teia de ruas estreitas que caracterizam a cidade até chegar á Catedral.

Almost every year we take stroll in Toledo, as we go on short trips we can always see something new each time, at least new to us. Once the capital of the Spanish empire retains its charms and its architectural mixtures between the medieval and Mudejar. La Malquerida – Toledo, Espanha

Fomos passar um dia a Toledo em familia e procurámos um restaurante para almoçar. A cidade é a Capital Espanhola da Gastronomia este ano e na realidade sempre o será dizem que daqui saem alguns dos melhores cozinheiros do país no entanto queríamos algo com um toque mais caseiro, com ambiente mais acolhedor trocando as toalhas de linho branco pelas de papel e procurando os pratos típicos de Toledo a um preço mais acessível. Foi assim que encontrámos o La Malquerida na rua da Trinidad.

We spend a day in Toledo family and looked for a restaurant to have lunch. The city is the  Spanish capital of Gastronomy this year and in fact always it will always be so from here come some of the best cooks in the country but we wanted something with a more homely touch, with a more welcoming environment by changing the white linen for paper  makers and looking for the typical dishes from Toledo at a more affordable price. That was how we found La Malquerida the street Trinidad.

Plaza de Zocodover – Toledo, Espanha

Em todas as visitas que fiz a Toledo passei sempre pela Plaza de Zocodover, ou para me perder nas ruelas da cidade, ou para comprar os famosos doces de maçapão da Santo Tomé ou para passar por baixo do arco do seu mais emblemático edificio, cumprimentar Cervantes e comer uma bomba toledana.
O seu nome vem do árabe e está relacionado com o mercado que se realizava nesta praça no tempo dos mouros, hoje é um dos seus principais pontos de encontro com lojas e cafés.
In all the visits I made to Toledo where I always passed through the Plaza de Zocodover, either to get lost in the alleys of the city, or to buy the famous candy marzipan Santo Tomé or pass beneath the arch of its most important building, greet Cervantes and eat a “bomba toledana”.
