Transformada em igreja, é na realidade uma das mesquitas em melhor estado da cidade. O seu nome era Bab al-Mardum e foi construída no ano de 999 durante o Califato de Córdoba.  Não é muito grande e servia como local de culto para os que entravam em Toledo pela primeira vez e o faziam pela porta com o mesmo nome.  E se a construção é antiga, mais ainda foi a descoberta de vestigios da civilização romana que aqui viveu.

Transformed into a church, it is actually one of the best preserved mosques of the city. Its name was Bab al-Mardum and was built in the year 999 during the Caliphate of Cordoba. It is not very big and served as a place of worship for those who entered Toledo for the first time and did so through the door with the same name. And if the construction is old, still more was the discovery of vestiges of the Roman civilization that lived here.

O sinal mais visivel de essas construções é a estrada que vemos junto ao pequeno jardim da mesquita. Já no interior encontramos a construção islâmica com os seus tradicionais arcos e na abside está o lado cristão, quando te afastas podes ter essa perspectiva de ver as duas religões a coexistir em harmonia arquitectónica. São várias as lendas ligadas a este lugar de culto, uma delas é a que lhe dá o nome porque dizem que quando os cristãos esconderam uma imagem de Cristo crucificado com uma lâmpada de óleo que supostamente ficou acesa durante 300 anos e foi descoberta durante a reconquista.

The most visible sign of these constructions is the road that we see next to the small garden of the mosque. Already in the interior we find the Islamic building with its traditional arches and in the apse is the Christian side, when you get a bit of distance you can have this perspective of seeing the two religions coexist in architectural harmony. There are many legends linked to this place of worship, one of them is the one that gives the name because they say that when Christians hid an image of Christ crucified with an oil lamp that supposedly remained lit for 300 years and was discovered during the reconquest.
