É a segunda vez que venho a Marrakech e a segunda que sei que alguém vai perder a cabeça ao passar pelos vários Souks da Medina. Desta vez acho que até foram mais pessoas a fazê-lo que da primeira e porque não? Mas para mim os Souks não são apenas um centro comercial ao ar livre recheado de produtos, muitos artesanais que são apelativos a qualquer um que passa, são uma experiencia que não esqueces, que te permite interagir com quem aqui vive, encontrar recantos escondidos como as elaboradas portas de alguns dos palácios que se escondem por detrás das montras e até podes encontrar algum famoso como por exemplo a Duquesa de Cornwall, Camilla Parker Bowles (cuja foto ficou desfocada pelo excesso de segurança).
It is the second time I’ve been to Marrakesh and the second that I know someone is going to lose his head through the various souks of the medina. I think by this time there were more people doing it than the first, and why not? But for me the Souks are not just a outdoor shopping center filled with products, many crafts that are appealing to anyone who passes but are an experience that you never forget, that lets you interact with those who live here, find hidden corners as  some of the palaces doors that hide behind the little shops and you can even find some famous such as the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker Bowles (whose picture was blurred by the excess of security people).

Ao escrever sobre o The Pearl não sabia muito bem como classificá-lo se um sitio para dormir, para comer ou as duas coisas. A minha experiência no The Pearl estava relacionada com a reunião da empresa e esteve concentrada no seu terraço com uma excelente vista para a Medina, para a Mesquita e para o Atlas. Estivémos aqui algum tempo a relaxar antes de começar a trabalhar, sentados nos seus confortáveis sofás a invejar os que tinham vestido o fato de banho e disfrutavam da piscina.
When writing about The Pearl I did not quite know how to classify it if a place to sleep, to eat, or both. My experience at The Pearl was related to the company meeting and was concentrated on its terrace with a great view over the Medina, the Mosque and the Atlas. We were here some time to relax before starting to work, sitting in their comfy sofas to envy those who were wearing swimsuits and indulging the pool.

PRAÇA JEMAA EL-FNA – MARRAKECH, MARROCOS

Posso abrir mil guias sobre Marrocos que todos começam por recomendar um passeio pela Medina que tenha a Praça Jemaa El-Fnaa como ponto de partida. Agitada e colorida não posso dizer que é das praças mais bonitas que conheci, o seu encanto não é a nível de arquitectura mas sim pela vida que tem e é por isso que a UNESCO a quer proteger.
E se durante o dia se vê uma multidão de gente é só esperar que anoiteça para realmente entender que o verdadeiro entretenimento em Marrakech não é estar sentado num sofá a ver televisão mas aquí, a assistir a qualquer dos “espectáculos” noturnos que oferece: contadores de histórias, músicos, etc..
I can open a thousand of guides on Morocco that the first they recommend everyone is to take a walk through the Medina that has the Jemaa El Fna Square as a starting point. Bustling and colorful I can not say it’s the most beautiful square I have seen, it’s charm is not on an architecture perspective but for the life it has and that is why UNESCO wants to protect it.
And if during the day you see a crowd of people just wait for nightfall to really understand the true entertainment in Marrakech is not sitting on a couch watching TV but here, to attend any of the nightly “shows” that offered by storytellers, musicians, etc…

Eu bem sei que ir a Munique e comer pizza é quase um crime. Eu sei. Só não tenho a certeza se consigo dar algum atenuante, o unico que me vem a cabeça e o facto de queremos fazer uma pausa da tipica gastronomia da Bavaria e comer um prato universal que adoramos para ver que tal o fazem nesse país. Parece bem?
Na realidade o nosso primeiro objectivo era jantar no Viktualienmarkt mas a hora que fomos estava vazio e optamos por procurar uma pizzaria nos arredores ate encontrar a Casa della Pizza e sentarmo-nos confortavelmente na sua esplanada.
I knew that going to Munich and eating pizza is almost a crime. I know. I’m just not sure I can give some good excuse, the only one that comes to mind is the fact that we needed a pause from the typical cuisine of Bavaria and eat a universal dish that we love to eat to see how they do it in this country. Looks right?
In fact our first objective was dinner at the Viktualienmarkt and at the time we went there it was empty and we chose to search for a pizzeria around it until finding the Casa della Pizza and sit down comfortably in it’s terrace.

Frauenkirche – Munique, Alemanha

Depois de a ver desde as alturas e entender as suas dimensões, fomos visitar a Catedral cuja fachada é difícil de fotografar pelos quase 100 metros de altura que tem cada uma das suas torres. Para os mais corajosos ou físicamente preparados é possível subir a uma das torres e contemplar a vista da cidade que chega até aos Alpes. Quando entrámos não estava a decorrer a missa mas sim um momento de oração o que limitou o número de fotos e a circulação no seu interior.

After watching from the heights and understand its dimensions, we visited the Cathedral whose facade is difficult to photograph for almost the 100 feet tall that has each of its towers. For the brave or physically prepared you can climb one of the towers and take in the view of the city that reaches the Alps. When we entered there was not a mass going on but a prayer which limited the number of photos and circulation inside it.

Ultimamente quando viajamos levo sempre uma lista de restaurantes recomendados que queremos conhecer, vou ao Tripadvisor, leio guias e peço recomendações a quem já esteve na cidade mas o Konigin 43 foi uma surpresa. Um acaso porque tinhamos acabado de dar um passeio pelo Englisher Garten quando paramos á porta de este restaurante e num impulso decidimos entrar, não nos arrependemos.

Lately when traveling I always take a list of recommended restaurants we want to know, I go to Tripadvisor, read guides and take recommendations from anyone who’s been in town but Konigin 43 was a surprise. A chance because we were arriving from our stroll in the Englisher Garten when we stopped at the door of this restaurant and decided to go on an impulse, no regrets.

Conseguimos mesa na esplanada mas o seu interior é igualmente apelativo. Tinham um menu do dia e era um restaurante frequentado por gente mais nova porque fica perto da Universidade. Eu escolhi uma salada com queijo de cabra e cous cous enquanto que o marido escolheu a massa com molho de caril, longe de ser o melhor restaurante da cidade a verdade é que não desilude e nota-se que vai ali muita gente da zona.
Gostei muito da minha salada, estava bem temperada e os ingredientes estavam óptimos. Já a massa com molho de caril não foi um grande êxito porque tinha mais pinta de ser de pacote que de comida caseira. Ainda assim não comemos mal e por menos de 20€ que foi um bom preço.
Recomendo para um almoço rápido antes ou depois da visita ao parque.

Got table on the terrace but its interior is equally appealing. They had a menu of the day and was a restaurant frequented by younger people because it is close to the University. I chose a salad with goat cheese and cous cous while my husband chose the pasta with curry sauce, far from being the best restaurant in town is the truth that it does not disappoint and we noticed that there was a lot of people there from the area.
I enjoyed my salad it was well seasoned and the ingredients were great. The pasta with curry sauce was not a great success because it had to be more of a package  quality tan of homemade food. Still it was quite good and for less than 20 € which was a fair price.
Highly recommend for a quick lunch before or after your visit to the park.

O Englisher Garten era um dos sitios que queriamos muito conhecer em Munique. Cada vez mais os parques fazem parte dos roteiros históricos, alguns porque sao históricos e outros porque sao uma boa maneira de escapar aos monumentos cheios de gente aproveitando uma experiência semelhante aos que aqui vivem. Ficava perto do nosso hotel e depois de tomar o pequeno-almoço no San Francisco Coffee company fomos dar um passeio por ele.
The Englisher Garten was one of the places we really wanted to see in Munich. More and more parks are now part of the tourist circuit, some because of their history and others because they are a good way to escape the crowded monuments taking advantage of an experience similar to those who live here. It was close to our hotel and after we had breakfast in the San Francisco Coffee company we went for a walk in it.

Procurava um restaurante que tivesse brunch para ir com uns amigos que estavam por Madrid, há algum tempo que o Pipa & Co (considerado um dos melhores de 2013) estava na lista pelas boas criticas que tinha pela boa comida, bom ambiente e com preços razoáveis. Uma premissa que cumpriram com alguns percalços pelo caminho (problemas com os horários do brunch vs. almoço, etc..), acabámos por almoçar porque chegámos um pouco tarde ao brunch mas a comida estava óptima que é o que importa.
I was looking for a restaurant that had brunch to go with some friends who were in Madrid, for some time that the Pipa & Co (considered one of the best of 2013) was on the list by the good reviews it had for good food, good atmosphere and reasonably prices. A premise that was fulfilled but with some mishaps along the way (problems with the hours of brunch vs. lunch, etc. ..), we finally have lunch because we arrived a bit late to the brunch but the food was great that’s what matters.

Não sou uma grande entendida do mundo Gin, é uma bebida que não costumo beber mas há que reconhecer que nos últimos anos e principalmente desde que vivo em Madrid oiço falar muito sobre ela e despertou a minha atenção. Quando pedi a uma amigo espanhol recomendações para um bar onde beber Gin pela visita de uns amigos que gostam muito desta bebida ele não hesitou em recomendar-me o Bristolbar na zona das Salesas. 
I’m not a big expert of the Gin world, it’s a drink that I do not usually drink but it is clear that in recent years, and especially since I live in Madrid I hear so much about it and caught my attention. When I asked a Spanish friend recommendations for a bar to drink gin because of a visit of some friends who are very fond of this drink and he did not hesitate in recommending me Bristolbar in the Salesas area.

Ao entrar as suas referências “british” estão bem evidentes com a sua bandeira e uma foto da Rainha Vitória numa das paredes do bar. Tem mais de cinquenta marcas desta bebida e requer algum tempo para preparar, há que refrescar o copo com gelo, retirar o excesso de água, colocar o gin e depois uma porção de água tónica que o barman ao vertê-la para o copo utilizou o cabo de uma colher supostamente para que não perca o gás. O toque final foi uma casca de lima e pronto a servir. Eu optei por algo mais simples e rápido que foi a “clara con limón”, um clássico madrilenho.
A parte do bar é pequena mas com muito bom ambiente, tem também uma parte de restaurante que serve pratos da cozinha britânica. 

When you get in the “british” references are very evident with the flag and a picture of Queen Victoria on the wall of the bar. It has over fifty brands of this drink and it requires some time to prepare, starting by refreshing the glass with ice, remove excess water, put the gin and tonic after a that the bartender to pour it into the glass used the handle of a spoon that is supposed to help it not to lose gas. The final touch was a twist of lime and it was ready to serve. I opted for something simple and fast it was to “clara con limón” (beer with lemon soda) a Madrid-based classic. 
The part of the bar is small but with a good environment, also has a restaurant serving British cuisine.

Tinha lido algures que aqui se serviam um dos melhores hamburguers de Madrid, reservei mesa para ir ao Buns numa sexta-feira á noite e fiquei surpreendida por ver que não estava assim tão cheio. Fica no bairro de Salamanca e a sua decoração está dentro da linha de um “diner” vintage americano. 
A carta na parte de hamburguers não era muito extensa mas ficou comprovada a sua qualidade com uma carne galega muito boa, ficaram por provar os cachorros quentes que dizem ser bons.

I had read somewhere that they served here one of the best burgers in Madrid, booked a table to go to Buns on a Friday night and I was surprised to see that it was not so full. Is in the Salamanca neighborhood and its decor is within a vintage “diner” American line. 
The menu it terms of hamburgers was not very extensive but it has proved its quality with a very good meat from Galicia, next time we need to taste the hot dogs that some say are good.

Para começar pedimos uns Nachos com frango, bacon, guacamole e queijo cheddar. Depois cada um pediu o seu hamburguer, no meu caso escolhi a Buns burger com um ingrediente extra que foi a cebola caramelizada que acrescentou mais sabor.  Pedimos de acompanhamento umas batatas skin-on com molho de alioli, muito boas. A qualidade da carne e do pão marcam a diferença nos hamburguers do Buns, não sendo um dos meus preferidos estava tudo realmente muito bom. Ainda houve espaço para sobremesa e pedimos Brownie com gelado de baunilha para partilhar. 
Pagámos 20€ por pessoa que achei talvez um pouco exagerado para o que comemos, os hamburguers custam á volta de 9€, os acompanhamentos entre 2,5€ e 3,5€.
For starters we ordered some Nachos with chicken, bacon, guacamole and cheddar cheese. After each asked a burger, in my case I chose the burger Buns with an extra ingredient that was the caramelized onions that added more flavor. We ordered a side that was the skin-on potatoes with alioli sauce, very good. The quality of meat and bread make a difference in the Buns hamburger, not being one of my favorites it was really very good. There was still room for dessert and we ordered Brownie with vanilla ice cream to share. 
We paid 20 € per person which I thought was maybe a little extreme for what we eat, the burgers cost around € 9, the sides are between 2.5 € and 3.5 €.
