Foi dos primeiros lugares de Madrid que conheci e ainda é um dos que continuo a visitar, a Plaza Mayor continua a ser o centro da cidade como foi desde a sua construção em 1617. Aquí, o povo madrilenho assistiu a actos oficiais e políticos, a touradas, execuções e diversas ocasiões a familia real assistia com eles desde a varanda do seu apartamento.
Hoje o espectáculos são culturais e a verdade é que há sempre qualquer coisa a acontecer aqui, o Mercado de Natal ou de selos e moedas, os artistas de rua, concertos, etc..
It was the first place I met in Madrid and is still one of those that I still visit, the Plaza Mayor remains the city center as it was since its construction in 1617. Here, the people of Madrid attended oficial and politicals acts, bullfights, executions and in several occasions the royal family watched them from the balcony of their apartment.

Visitei varias vezes durante o Mercado de Natal e é das minhas épocas preferidas aqui, principalmente quando o dia dá lugar á noite e o seus jogos de luzes criam um ambiente único.
É verdade que hoje em dia está sempre cheia de turistas e que muitos dos seus cafés não estão propriamente na moda mas também é certo que os espanhóis têm a frase:”De toda la vida” por algum motivo e aqui se aplica, porque podemos provar o “bocadillo de calamares de toda la vida” porque há tradições que se mantém e isso também é importante numa cidade principalmente quando são boas.
Nas suas arcadas encontramos esses cafés e quando o sol permite, podemos tomar uma cerveja nas varias mesas que se espalham pela praça.

In its arcades we find these cafes and when the sun allows, we can have a beer in the various tables that spread across the square.

É uma conhecida rua de comércio no centro do Porto, não tão conhecida como a Santa Catarina e as suas lojas não são das mais modernas como as que podemos ver no Centro Comercial Bombarda.
Conhecida pelo seu retábulo em talha dourada no altar-mor e pela sua fachada lateral feita de azulejos, a Igreja do Carmo foi construída no século XVIII nos estilos barroco e rococó. Na fachada podemos ver o profeta Elias e o seu discípulo Eliseu. Foi inspirada no modo de vida do profeta que a Ordem Terceira do Carmo foi fundada.
