Foi preciso viajar a Nova Iorque para ir a um restaurante tailandês, na realidade já tinha provado alguns pratos mas sempre em restaurantes asiáticos que servem desde sushi a um caril thai. E comer aqui foi uma obra do acaso, estava a espreitar a carta quando um grupo de americanos ao sair do restaurante nos dizem: “Go in, it’s the best thai in town”. E não sabemos se é o melhor mas foi o que nos levou a adorar a comida tailandesa mesmo não arriscando muito.
It took traveling to New York to go to a Thai restaurant, we had actually tasted some dishes but always in Asian restaurants that everything from sushi to a Thai curry. And eating here was a fluke, I was taking a peek at the menu when a group of Americans left the restaurant and told us: “Go in, it’s the best thai in town”. We do not know if it’s the best but it was the one that led us to love Thai food even without risking much.
A decoração tinha um toque de moderno misturado com o que poderia ser um pequeno restaurante em Bangkok, tudo isto em pleno Hell’s Kitchen. Ficou a vontade de provar as exóticas “stir fried frog legs” mas decidimos ir aos nossos pratos habituais: pedimos uns Vegetable Spring Rolls que vêm em quantidade generosa, com uma massa crocante e um excelente recheio de jicama, cogumelos e noodles celofane. Depois pedi um Wok Cashew Nuts with Schrimp que estava delicioso, com camarão fresco e verduras de qualidade, o marido pediu o Jungle Curry Fried Rice with Chicken que gostou mas esperava que fosse um pouco mais picante. O almoço ficou por trinta dólares mais cinco de gorjeta, os pratos rondam os oito-dez dólares, foi mais uma excelente experiência em Nova Iorque a um bom preço.
The decor had a modern touch mixed with what could be a small restaurant in Bangkok, all in one place right in Hell’s Kitchen. There was the desire to taste the exotic “stir fried frog legs“ but decided to go to our usual dishes: we ordered some Vegetable Spring Rolls that come in generous amount, with a crunchy crust and an excellent filling of jicama, mushrooms and cellophane noodles. Then I ordered a Wok Cashew Nuts with schrimp which was delicious, with fresh shrimp and good quality vegetables, my husband asked for the Jungle Curry Fried Rice with Chicken which he liked but expected it to be a bit more spicy. Lunch was for thirty five dollars more tip, the dishes are around 8-10 dollars, it was another great experience in New York at a good price.
