Between Spain & Portugal, Madrid & Lisboa…

We left the Comedy Theatre (see post about La Chocita del Loro) had to decide where to have dinner, the logical and usual is to book a restaurant before but I the ones I was trying were already full, Friday night in Madrid what was I thinking to leave this to the last minute? We decided to go to a classic: Don Jamon, still thought going to the Museo del Jamón (the ultra-famous) but do not know why I thought the first seemed better.

One of the charms of Christmas is the lighting in the streets and some of what we see in Madrid are new, others are being used from year to year and placed on the same streets. Among those that I like most are the ones in Plaza Mayor by the environment they créate but it is always interesting to see the the ones in the Cibeles Palace or the illuminated nativity scene the Puerta de Alcalá.

When night falls (more or less at 18h) the lights came on, there are several streets with lighting, the liveliest usually are Gran Via, Preciados and the Puerta del Sol. I walked some of these streets and was taking pictures but there is an excellent alternative that is to see them through the Navibus. Goes out from Calle Serrano near the Jardín de los Descubrimientos (despite having read that left at Plaza Colón what I saw was that it stopped in this area) and passes through the main streets of Madrid to see the lights, costs 2 € for those over seven years .
