MERCADO NATAL PRAÇA MARIA TERESA – VIENA, ÁUSTRIA

Foi o primeiro mercado de Natal que visitei em Viena, pareceu-me mais pequeno que o da Rathausplatz mas tinha o mesmo tipo de casetas de madeira que vendem decorações de todo o tipo, grande parte artesanato além dos tradicionais bares com o Glühwein, sandes com enchidos da região, kartoffel (batatas), entre outras propostas gastronómicas. Mas então qual é a diferença? Porque é que quem vê um vê que é igual ao outro?

It was the first Christmas market that I visited in Vienna, it seemed smaller than the Rathausplatz but had the same type of wooden houses selling decorations of all kinds, much of crafts in addition to the traditional bars with Glühwein, sandwiches with stuffed region, Kartoffel (potatoes), among other gastronomic proposals. But then what is the difference? Why one sees a market sees another?

A resposta está no seu entorno a Praça dedicada a Maria Teresa dá-lhe outro encanto, rodeada de elegantes edificios que são hoje museus e o monumento dedicado a esta imperatriz do século XVIII fazem com que seja algo realmente especial.
Neste mercado comprei algumas decorações para a árvore de Natal, é impossível resistir principalmente ás bolas pintadas á mão ou outros feitos de materiais reciclados. É igualmente impossível resistir ao cheiro do mercado, sempre algo te cheira bem ou são umas velas, ou decorações com frutos secos perfumados ou mesmo o cheiro da comida que convida ao petisco.
É imprescindivel visitar durante a noite porque a iluminação vale a pena.

This market bought some decorations for the Christmas tree, it is impossible to resist mainly ace balls painted by hand or other made from recycled materials. It is also impossible to resist the smell of the market, always something smells good or are you some candles or decorations with fragrant dried fruit or even the smell of food that invites to snack.
It is indispensable visit at night because the lighting is worth it.

CAFÉ HOFBURG – VIENA, ÁUSTRIA

Depois de visitar as várias salas de Imperadores e Imperatrizes do Hofburg era tempo para uma pausa e entre salas deixam-te entrar no seu café mas preferimos chegar até ao final da exposição, voltar á praça e entrar pela porta principal do Café Hofburg. Pareceu-nos ser dos mesmos do Café Residenz e do Museum pela carta que tinham, o seu interior era diferente mas seguia a mesma linha de conforto do último que mencionei. Conseguimos um sofá acolhedor junto a uma janela e o primeiro que pedimos foi um chá.
After visiting the various rooms of emperors and empresses of the Hofburg it was time for a break and between those rooms they let you come to their coffee but we chose to reach the end of the museum, exit to the square and enter by the front door of the Café Hofburg. It seemed to us to be the same Cafe Residenz and Museum because of its menu, its interior was different but followed the same line of comfort of the last one mentioned. We got a cozy sofa near a window and the first thing we ordered was a tea.

Por momentos arrependemo-nos da nossa decisão na terra do café com dois andares de natas não terá sido a melhor ideia, mas queríamos algo mais leve porque depois íamos pedir almoço. Optámos por um clássico de Viena o famoso Schnitzel, o bife panado que pedimos para dividir e foi suficiente para duas pessoas (não tínhamos muita fome). Estava com um panado bastante crocante e o que mais gostei foi do seu acompanhamento, a famosa salada de batata fria que realmente dá mais equilibrio ao prato.
Os doces são de Landtmann o que significa que são todos bons mas como tínhamos ficado bem optámos por não pedir. Aqui servem o doce favorito do Imperador Franz Joseph, o Kaiserschmarrn é um prato de panquecas cortadas em troços com passas que se pode regar com chocolate ou geleia.
O outro ponto forte do Café Hofburg é a sua esplanada que alguns corajosos decidiram aproveitar embrulhados em mantas.

For a momento we had some regret about our decision in the land of coffee with two floors of cream it was not the best idea, but we wanted something lighter because after we would order lunch. We opted for the classic and famous Vienna‘s schnitzel, breaded steak that we asked to split and was enough for two people (we were not very hungry). It was a very crispy breaded and what I liked most was its side, the famous cold potato salad that gives more balance to the dish.
The sweets are from Landtmann which means they are all good but as we were full we opted not to order. Here they serve the favorite candy of Emperor Franz Joseph, the Kaiserschmarrn is a plate of pancakes cut into sections with raisins that you can sprinkle with chocolate or jelly.

The other strong point of the Café Hofburg is its terrace that some brave ones decided to take advantage wrapped in blankets.

O Hofburg é muito mais que um Palácio, é um complexo arquitetónico que serviu de casa a várias familias reais e uma das mais poderosas foi a dos Habsburg, que governou a Áustria durante cerca de seiscentos anos. Aqui viveu também um das imperatrizes mais conhecidas da história, Sissi ou Isabel da Bavaria, todos se lembram do filme que parecia tocar o lado mais doce da sua vida mas nada se compara a visitar o seu apartamento para entender mais sobre esta complexa mulher. Valeu a pena entrar no seu museu para conhecer o interior de uma pequena parte do Palácio Imperial.

The Hofburg is much more than a Palace is an architectural complex that served as the home to several royal families and one of the most powerful was the Habsburg, who ruled Austria for about six hundred years. Here lived also one of the best known empresses in history, Sissi or Elizabeth of Bavaria, all remember the movie that seemed to touch the sweeter side of her life but nothing compares to visit her apartments to understand more about this complex woman. Worth enter his museum to see the inside of a small part of the Imperial Palace.

Qualquer guia te dirá que os cafés de Viena são verdadeiras instituições, são outro tipo de monumentos aos quais te recomendam ir mas só quando realmente entras num sentes o que estão a falar. E um dos seus mais emblemáticos é o Café Museum que logo á entrada exibe a sua montra de doces para deixar-te deslumbrado e para não peças um café sem companhia. Fundado no final do século XIX nas suas mesas sentaram-se artistas como Klimt ou Kokoschka ou os arquitetos Otto Wagner e Adolf Loos.

Any guide will tell you that the cafes of Vienna are true institutions, they are other types of monuments which they recommend you to go but only when you enter one you really feel what they are talking about. And one of its most emblematic is the Coffee Museum that as son as you get in displays its sweets window to leave you dazzled and not drink a coffee without company. Founded in the late nineteenth century at their tables sat artists like Klimt and Kokoschka or architects Otto Wagner and Adolf Loos.

MERCADO NATAL RATHAUSPLATZ – VIENA, ÁUSTRIA

Viena tem mais mercados de Natal que alguma vez imaginava, cada praça e recanto tinha umas casitas que vendiam entre o vinho quente (glühwein), especialidades locais e artesanato de todo o tipo seja para decoração de Natal ou para oferecer. Mas o rei de estes mercados é o Christmas Advent na praça do Rathaus (Praça do Municipio) e a melhor hora para o visitar é quando já cai a noite, nessa altura podemos ver as suas decorações iluminadas.
Vienna has more Christmas markets than ever imagined, each square and cranny had a casitas that sold between the mulled wine (glühwein), local specialties and crafts of all kinds is for Christmas decoration or to offer. But the king of these markets is the Christmas Advent in the square of the Rathaus (Municipio Square) and the best time to visit is when ever the night falls, then we can see its lighted decorations.

Este post não foi fácil escrever porque não consigo encontrar palavras para descrever o quanto gostei de Schladming, o quanto eu desejaria que a aldeia do meu pai fosse assim com umas vistas fantásticas para a zona central dos Alpes e preservando o encanto que as casas desta região têm.
Sou fã de praia e o Verão para mim tem que ter mar e sol, mas depois de passear em Agosto por esta região entendo porque muitos optam pela montanha para passar as suas férias.
 
This post was not easy to write because I can not find words to describe how much I enjoyed Schladming, how I wish that my father’s village was like this with it’s fantastic views to the central zone of the Alps and preserving the charm that the houses of that are have.
I am a fan of the beach and summer for me it has to have sun and sea, but after visiting in August this región I understand why many opt for the mountain to spend their vacation.

CATEDRAL DE SALZBURGO – ÁUSTRIA

A 1 de Maio de 1959 a Catedral ou “Dom” de Salzburgo voltou a abrir as suas portas para todos os que quisessem assistir á primeira missa depois da II Guerra Mundial e da reconstrução da cúpula que ficou totalmente destruída após um bombardeio. Hoje podemos apreciar essa mesma cúpula e os frescos que nela estão pintados, há que estar preparado para passar algum tempo a olhar para cima.
The May 1, 1959 the Cathedral or “Dom” in Salzburg again open its doors to all who wanted to attend to the first Mass after the Second World War and the reconstruction of the dome that was completely destroyed after a bombing. Today we can enjoy that same dome and frescos that are painted on it, one must be prepared to spend some time looking up.

Mozart Wohnhaus – Salzurgo, Áustria

O nosso bilhete combinado que compramos na casa onde nasceu Mozart dava para visitar a casa onde viveu depois. Entre os dois museus tenho que admitir que gostei mais do primeiro que visitámos, este não me pareceu ter tanto conteúdo como o outro mas mesmo assim tinha peças importantes da vida de Mozart para além do seu retrato que ainda hoje há dúvidas sobre se realmente é autêntico.
 
Our combined ticket we bought in the house where Mozart was born could also be used to visit the house where he lived after. Between the two museums I have to admit that I enjoyed the first most of, this did not seem to have as much content as the other but still had important parts of the life of Mozart beyond his portrait that still there are doubts about whether it is authentic.

Sou daquelas pessoas que quando viaja leva sempre uma pequena lista de restaurantes da cidade aonde vou, Salzburgo foi a excepção, não levei nenhuma recomendação. Quando chegámos á cidade já tinha passado a tradicional hora de almoço e estávamos com fome, parámos no K+K que foi o primeiro sitio que encontrámos e não nos arrependemos.
I am one of those people that when traveling always takes a short list of restaurants in the city where I’m going, Salzburg was the exception, I took no recommendation. When we got to the city we had passed the traditional lunchtime and we were hungry, we stopped at K + K which was the first place we found and we do not repent.

Mozart Geburtshaus – Salzburgo, Áustria

É talvez o nativo de Salzburgo mais famoso do mundo e nasceu nesta colorida casa que fica no número 9 da Getreidegasse, o seu nome Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Ele e a irmã foram os únicos filhos dos sete que nasceram da modesta familia Mozart, nasceu no dia 27 de Janeiro de 1756 e viveu dezassete anos nesta casa. Foi a primeira porta que “abrimos” para entrar no mundo de um dos maiores génios da música clássica.

It is perhaps the world’s most famous person born in Salzburg and in this colorful house at number 9 Getreidegasse, his name Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He and his sister were the only of the seven children born of modest family Mozart, he was born on January 27, 1756 and lived seventeen years in this house. It was the first “open” door to the world of one of the greatest geniuses of classical music.
