O nosso hotel ficava muito perto da Rue des Martyrs, a rua com uma grande concentração de “patisseries” premiadas e “cholateriers”. Não tivémos tempo de provar todas mas a Maison Landemaine foi uma das escolhidas e é impossível entrar sem querer comer muito mais do que o estômago nos está a pedir. Quando entrámos formou-se fila, grande parte para comprar pão e alguns não resistiam aos vários doces e bolos das vitrinas.

Our hotel was very close to the Rue des Martyrs, a street with a large concentration of award-winning “patisseries” and “cholateriers”. We had no time to tasted them all but the Maison Landemaine was one of the chosen and it is impossible to enter without wanting to eat much more than in the stomach is asking. When we entered a queue was formed, largely to buy bread and some could not resist the sweets and cakes of it’s windows.

Blend – Paris, França

A febre dos hamburgueres gourmet invadiu várias cidades europeias e Paris não foi excepção, encontrei várias opções para os comer mas acabámos por decidir ir ao Blend. Queríamos um lugar descontraído para comer dos que nos fizessem matar saudades da nossa viagem a NYC e este pareceu-nos a melhor opção. Não é muito grande e não tem muitas mesas mas o serviço é suficientemente rápido para conseguir sempre mesa nem que seja a partilhar.
The fever of gourmet burgers raided various European cities and Paris was no exception, I found several options to eat but ended up deciding to go to the Blend. We wanted a relaxed place to eat that to relive the memories of our trip to NYC and this seemed the best option. It is  not very large and has few tables but the service is fast enough so you can always get the table even if you have to share.

Pink Flamingo – Paris, França

Depois de uma semana na Normandia a comer a típica comida da região decidimos que necesitávamos de comer uma pizza e como fomos passear ao Canal Saint Martin a escolha foi o Pink Flamingo. São uma versão irreverente do clássico italiano, ideia de dois artistas Jamie e Marie que oferecem uma carta com combinações inovadoras e surpreendentes.
Fomos ao primeiro restaurante que abriram em Paris mas têm outros na cidade e pelo que vi na sua web têm um em Valência e outro em Amsterdão.

After a week in Normandy eating the typical food of the area we decided that we needed to eat a pizza and as we were wandering the Canal Saint Martin the choice was the Pink Flamingo. They are an irreverent version of the classic Italian food, idea of two artists Jamie and Marie that offer a letter with innovative and surprising combinations.
We went to the first restaurant that opened in Paris but have others in the city and from what I saw on their web they have one in Valencia and one in Amsterdam.

Hotel 3 Poussins – Paris, França

Ao organizar a nossa viagem á Normandia, marcámos voo em Paris com intenção de ficar pelo menos um dia na capital e aproveitar para conhecer melhor a zona a norte do Sena, não foi fácil encontrar um bom hotel com preços razoáveis. E foi assim que descobrimos o Hotel 3 Poussins que apesar de ter três estrelas sentimos que o tratamento foi superior á sua classificação.
A sua localização é excelente, fica na Rue Clauzel muito perto da movimentada Rue des Martyrs e a zona de Montmartre.
Organizing our trip to Normandy, we booked a flight to Paris with the intention of staying at least one day in the capital and get to know better the north area of the Seine, it was not easy to find a good hotel reasonably priced. And that’s how we discovered the Hotel 3 Poussins that despite having three stars we felt that the treatment was superior to its rating.
The location is excellent, it’s on Rue Clauzel very close to the busy Rue des Martyrs and the Montmartre area.

Canal Saint Martin – Paris, França

Tinha muita curiosidade de conhecer o Canal de Saint Martin, queria ver a ponte onde Amelie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0211915/) atirava pedrinhas á agua e passear pelo o seu entorno boémio mas que não deixa de ter o seu encanto. É um lugar de encontro de casais românticos como grupos de amigos que sentam na sua margem e fazem um pequeno picnic muitos com enchidos ou queijo, vinho ou cerveja.
I was very curious to know the Canal de Saint Martin, I wanted to see the bridge where Amelie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0211915/) threw stones at the water and stroll through its bohemian surroundings but that has its charm. It is a meeting place for romantic couples or groups of friends that sit on its bank and make a small picnic with many with sausages or cheese, wine or beer.

Boulevard de Clichy – Paris, França

Situada no bairro mais bohémio de Paris – Montmartre, a Boulevard de Clichy é famosa pela sua agitada vida nocturna e o local onde podemos ver o célebre Moulin Rouge. Saímos na estação de metro de Pigalle mas a mais próxima do famoso cabaret é a Blanche.

Situated in the most bohemian district of Paris – Montmartre, the Boulevard of Clichy is famous for its bustling nightlife and where we can see the famous Moulin Rouge. We got out on the Pigalle metro station but the nearest famous cabaret is Blanche.

Ópera de Paris (Exterior) – Paris, França

Continuando o nosso passeio de bicicleta por Paris fomos parar á Praça da Ópera onde vimos uma grande agitação á volta do Palácio Garnier. Nele está a Academia Nacional de Música e a Ópera de Paris. Junto ás escadas do elegante edificio, um grupo de músicos tocava como se a Academia tivesse saído á rua e tinham bastante público. Ficámos algum tempo a ouvi-los tocar enquanto contemplávamos a fantástica fachada do palácio.

Continuing our bike ride through Paris we stopped at the Opera Square where we saw a great agitation around the Palais Garnier. In it there’s the National Academy of Music and the Paris Opera. Standing by the stairs of the elegant building, a group of musicians played as if the Academy had come out to the street and had they gathered quite a crowd. We stayed some time to listen to them play while we contemplated the awesome facade of the palace.

Situado a norte do Louvre, o Palácio Real é hoje a sede do Conselho de Estado mas desde da sua construção no século XVII que importantes figuras da história francesa passaram por ele nomeadamente o Cardeal Richelieu. Na realidade antes de ser o Palais-Royal foi o Palais-Cardinal.

Ao longo dos séculos teve várias utilizações, após a morte do Cardeal Richelieu foi a residência do jovem Luís XIV o futuro Rei de França. Mais tarde e na era Orleães foi palco de luxuosas festas e era um local de jogo, função que continuou a ter até ao século XIX quando se tornou na sede do Conselho de Estado. Numa parte do palácio está o Ministério da Cultura. 
Located north of the Louvre, the Royal Palace is now the seat of the Council of State but since it was built in the seventeenth century that important figures in French history were in itincluding Cardinal Richelieu. In fact prior to the Palais–Royal it was the Palais-Cardinal.
Over the centuries it had various uses, after the death of Cardinal Richelieu it was the residence of the young future King Louis XIV of France. Later in the Orleans era was the stage of luxurious parties and a gambling site, which continued to work until the nineteenth century when it became the seat of the Council of State. In one part of the palace is the Ministry of Culture.

Place des Victoires – Paris, França

No nosso passeio de bicicleta por Paris passámos por esta praça circular rodeada de elegantes edificios e ao centro vimos uma estátua equestre que mais tarde percebemos ser do Rei Luís IV, o famoso Rei Sol.
O actual monumento ao monarca foi construído em 1828, mas o original que era do século XVII que foi construído juntamente com a praça e os seus edificios foi destruído durante a Revolução Francesa. Ao centro ergueram-se outros monumentos até que D. Carlos X ordenou a construção de uma estátua em honra ao famoso Rei Sol.
On our bike ride through Paris we passed by this circular plaza surrounded by elegant buildings and in the center we saw the equestrian statue that later we realized to be of King Louis IV, the famous Sun King
The current monument to the monarch was built in 1828, but the original was from the seventeenth century it was built along with the square and its buildings were destroyed during the French Revolution. In the center other monuments were placed here until D. Charles X ordered the construction of a statue in honor of the famous Sun King.

Arco do Triunfo – Paris, França

Ao percorrer os Champs-Élysées começámos a ver um aparato de gente e polícia que nos pareceu fora do normal. Sim, estávamos perto do Arco do Triunfo mas que estaria para acontecer para causar tamanho burburinho?
Fomos na Páscoa (25 de Abril) e este tipo de cerimónia segundo tinha lido nos guias acontecia a 8 de Maio, data em que se celebra a vitória na II Guerra Mundial, o ritual é muito parecido há uma marcha lenta de militares liderada por veteranos de guerra que levam uma coroa de flores e colocam na campa do Soldado Desconhecido.
When walking through the Champs-Élysées we started to see a crowd of people and police that seemed out of the ordinary. Yes, we were near the Arc de Triomphe but what was going to cause a buzz that size?
We went in Easter (April 25) and such ceremony according to what I read in guidebooks happened on May 8, when they celebrate the victory in World War II, the ritual is very similar there is an idle led by war veteran taking a wreath to put on the grave of the Unknown Soldier.
