Sendo uma novidade por terras madrilenas o “Kilómetros de Pizza” é esteticamente um espaço acolhedor, amplo e com muita luz. As cadeiras lembram o mobiliário das aulas da primária – o espaço é convidativo a uma refeição prolongada e vários dedos de conversa.
Com dois espaços distintos – mesas no interior e exterior, proporciona ainda uma vista para a cozinha e para a preparação dos metros de pizza mesmo antes de estes entrarem no forno ao seu tamanho e medida!
 
Being a novelty on the Madrid territory the “Kilometers of Pizza” is aesthetically a cozy, spacious and bright. The chairs remind the furniture of primary school – the space is inviting to a prolonged meal and a great chat.
With two distinct spaces – tables inside and outside, also provides a view of the kitchen and the preparation of meters of pizza even before they enter the oven with its size and measure!

Burrata Fresca – se Mozzarela é a entrada muitas vezes escolhida, a Burrata é divinal – aquele queijinho fresco (até então desconhecido), suave e quase a derreter por dentro acompanhado com pão de alho estaladiço!

Com vários sabores à escolha pode-se optar por prato individual, 1/2 metro, 1 ou 2 metros de pizza de massa fresca e realmente saborosa. Na escolha de 1 ou 2 metros de pizza é possível escolher dois “sabores” distintos e diversificar a refeição no nosso caso foi uma combinação de Ibérica com a Barbacoa.

Para além do espaço e da comida existiu algo que cativou assim que chegamos ao local – a atenção e simpátia dos empregados. Para além de comunicarem em diversos idiomas (incluindo inglês e brasileiro) mostraram-se logo disponíveis para colocar a cadeira de bebé para o J., mostrar a cozinha e ceder lápis de cera para o F. nos surpreender com os seus desenhos.

É uma praça importante com edificios como o da Cámara Municipal (Ayuntamiento) ou a Igreja de San Isidoro, muito central e que serve de ligação a varias ruas importantes e ao Mercado de Forlán. Ao longo dos anos para lém de varios nomes teve também diversas utilizações como por exemplo como mercado, zona de romarias ou com a sua cara mais negra, lugar de execuções.

O edificio da Cámara foi originalmente construido no século XVII e já incluia o Arco de Cimavilla, a Torre do relógio foi adicionada da destruição do edificio durante a época da Guerra Civil Espanhola.
A Igreja de San Isidoro é também uma sobrevivente, no século XVI fazia parte do Colégio de San Martin construído pelos Jesuitas que em 1873 foi destruido para dar lugar ao Mercado del Forlán onde hoje podemos apreciar um copo de sidra na sua animada praça. Mas a igreja ficou e veio substituir a antiga que dedicada ao mesmo santo cujo pórtico podemos ver no El Campo.

Tive muita pena de só a ter visitado ao fim do dia, sem a luz do sol a cor da praça não é a mesma e as nossas fotografías não fazem justiça á sua pitoresca beleza. Está no centro histórico da cidade e foi reconstruída na década noventa, consegui encontrar fotografías de como era antes e realmente notava-se o seu grande estado de degradação o que levou os responsáveis da cidade a optarem por essa via em vez de pequenas obras de restauro.
 
I was very sorry for only having visited in the evening without the sunlight the color of the square is not the same and our photos do not do justice to its picturesque beauty. It’s in the historic center of the city and was rebuilt in the late nineties, I managed to find photographs of how it was before and really could notice it’s great state of degradation which led city officials to opt for this route rather than a small restoration.

Nós visitámos no Inverno o que lhe retira um pouco da sua vida, no Verão torna-se numa enorme esplanada onde todos podem aproveitar o bom tempo enquanto bebem a típica sidra. Conseguiu manter apesar de tudo o seu traçado medieval, o seu espírito de ponto de encontro social e é sem dúvida um dos melhores lugares a visitar em Oviedo.
Encontrámos nesta praça a loja El Buen Gusto com produtos típicos da região, ali se pode provar os Carayinos (clara de ovo, avelã e açúcar) ou os Carbayón (ovo, amêndoas, cognac e açúcar) ou os Casadiellas (são como uns travesseiros feitos com ovos, nozes e aniz).
 
We visited in the winter which removes a bit of it’s life, in the summer becomes a huge terrace where everyone can enjoy the good weather while drinking the typical cider. They managed to maintain despite all its medieval style, its spirit of social meeting point and is undoubtedly one of the best places to visit in Oviedo.
We found in this square the store El Buen Gusto with typical products of the region, there can taste the Carayinos (egg whites, hazelnuts and sugar) or Carbayón (egg, almonds, sugar and cognac) or Casadiellas (as are some pillows made with eggs, nuts and anise).

Visitei esta antes de ir á igreja de Santa Maria del Naranco, estão na mesma estrada do Monte de Naranco mas a de San Miguel está mais acima. Tal como a sua vizinha, a sua construção teve lugar durante o reinado de Ramiro I das Astúrias e foi também considerada Patrimonio da Humanidade por parte da UNESCO. Pode não ser tão monumental como a outra mas não deixa de ter o seu interesse e tive muita pena (outra vez) porque estava também fechada mas segundo o edital na sua porta era por obras.
 
I visited this before going to the church of Santa Maria del Naranco, they are on the same road of Mount Naranco but San Miguel is higher. Like its neighbor, its construction took place during the reign of Ramiro I of Asturias and was also considered a World Heritage by UNESCO. May not be as monumental as the other but it is still interesting and I was (once again) sorry because it was also closed that according to the announcement on the door it is because of reconstruction work.

Dizem que a igreja original era bastante maior mas que a sua deterioração fez com que no século XIV apenas sobrevivesse a parte que vemos hoje. Ainda assim há muito pouco tempo tiveram que fazer obras de restauro porque se temia que não aguentasse por muito mais.
Enquanto Santa Maria del Naranco servia como uma residência do rei, San Miguel de Lillo que está dedicada ao Arcanjo foi construída como igreja e assim se manteve desde o século IX. Faltou ver a Santa Cristina de Lena que também fará parte do grupo de edificações que Ramiro I mandou fazer durante o seu reinado, cuja beleza era suficientemente valiosa para defendê-la dos inimigos. As Astúrias têm tudo: montanha, mar, praia, boa comida, boa bebida, boa gente e monumentos que testemunham a sua história.

Voltei a Oviedo mas a trabalho, aproveitei para visitar os dois monumentos de arquitectura pré-românica da cidade, foi uma excelente experiência porque fui a um dia de semana ás dez da manhã e era a única pessoa a explorá-los. O que mais impressiona é a sua idade, foi construída no século IX e fazia parte do palácio que o Rei Ramiro I construiu no Monte de Naranco.
I returned to Oviedo but this time to work, I used it to visit the two monuments of pre-Romanesque architecture of the city, it was a great experience because it was a weekday morning at ten and I was the only person to exploit them. What is most impressive is it’s age, it was built in the ninth century as part of the palace that King Ramiro I built on Mount Naranco.

As lojas de luxo certificam que as Galerias continuam a ser um dos lugares mais privilegiados da cidade para fazer compras, uma pena eu não ter uma carteira para acompanhar mas é verdade que um simples passeio por elas já me faz viajar no tempo e imaginar que estou no final do século XIX sentada na esplanada do Café Biffi a beber um chá depois de uma tarde de compras.
Foi inaugurada a 1867 mas a obra não estava completa, apenas dez anos mais tarde terminou com a trágica morte do seu criador Giuseppe Mengoni que terá caído do topo do arco triunfal.

Luxury shopping make sure that the Galleries remains one of the most priviledged places in the city for shopping, a pity I do not have a wallet to keep up with it but it is true that a simple walk through them makes me travel back in time and imagine that I am in the late nineteenth century sitting on the terrace of the Café Biffi drinking a tea after an afternoon of shopping.
It was inaugurated in 1867 but the work was not complete, only ten years later ended with the tragic death of its creator Giuseppe Mengoni that fell from the top of the triumphal arch.

Tornou-se rápidamente num lugar de convivio para os habitantes da cidade, um ponto de encontro para a sua vida social com lojas e cafés. Construída em forma de cruz tem ao centro uma cúpula de cristal, podemos chegar desde a Piazza del Duomo até a della Scala sem apanhar um pingo de chuva e ainda apreciar as montras.
Foi inspirada em galerías de Paris que surgiam na cidade francesa pela mesma altura mas nenhuma com a grandiosidade da Galeria Vittorio Emanuele II que viu o próprio rei a lançar a primeira pedra e que servem ainda hoje de inspiração para outras construções semelhantes.
No chão podemos ver os brasões de outras cidade italianas importantes como Roma por exemplo, reza a lenda que no de Milão onde figura um touro se deve dar uma volta porque dá sorte.

Pizzeria di Gennaro – Milão, Itália

Milão deve ter mil restaurantes que dizem ter a melhor pizza da cidade, o Di Gennaro talvez seja um deles e o melhor de o termos conhecido nem foi a comida, foi que não estava no plano e foi toda uma descoberta…para nós! Para mim é uma pizzería á italiana, o “sr. Gennaro” recebe-te á porta sempre com muita pressa mas sem perder um pingo de simpatía, quando vê o bébé acelera o passo para que nos sentemos o quanto antes, ainda nem provámos as pizzas e já nem queremos saber se são as melhores, o Di Gennaro conquista pela simpatía e por aquele toque típico italiano (sem as toalhas de xadrez) que parece que só vês nos filmes mas que afinal existe.
Milan must have a thousand restaurants that say they have the best pizza in town, Di Gennaro is perhaps one of them but the best of eating here was not even tasting the food it was that it was not in the plan and all was … a discovery for us! To me it is a true Italian pizzería, the “Mr. Gennaro” meets you at the door in a hurry but always without losing an ounce of sympathy when he sees the baby he accelerates the pace to sit us as soon as possible, we hadn’t tasted the pizzas and do not even know if they are the best, Di Gennaro conquered us by it’s sympathy and by that typical Italian touch (no towels chess) it seems that you only see it in movies but it actually exists.

Foi o segundo sitio que conhecemos de Milão porque o primeiro foi o aeroporto. Daqui partimos para Florença directamente mas enquanto esperávamos pelo comboio passeámos pela bela estação. Não é daqueles sitios que vem recomendado nos guias mas é sem dúvida um dos mais importantes da cidade pela sua função. Também a sua história é interessante, a primeira pedra foi colocada por Victor Emanuele III (em 1906) mas a sua construção terminou apenas a 1931 após ter sido interrompida pela Guerra Mundial.
It was the second place we visited in Milan because first it was the airport. From here we went to Florence directly but as we waited for the train we strolled through the beautiful train station. It is no one of those sites that come recommended in the guides but it is undoubtedly one of the city’s most important for its function. Also it’s story is interesting, the first stone was laid by Victor Emanuele III (in 1906) but its construction ended only in 1931 after having been interrupted by the World War.

Bianco Latte – Milão, Itália

Mesmo ao dobrar da esquina do nosso hotel estava este tentador paraíso de doces chamado Bianco Latte. Como tínhamos direito a pequeno-almoço e pouco tempo na cidade não tivémos a oportunidade de disfrutar deste lugar como nós merecíamos ainda para mais na Páscoa.
Entrámos para comer um gelado e um muffin que estavam óptimos e ficámos sentados a apreciar o reboliço da espaço, das pessoas que se deixavam seduzir pelos doces, chocolates e bolos, pelos gelados e pela zona da loja onde se pode comprar bijuteria ou um serviço de chá por exemplo.
Right around the corner from our hotel there was this tempting sweet paradise called Bianco Latte. As we were entitled to breakfast and a short time in the city did not have the opportunity to enjoy this place as we deserve it even more so at Easter.
We went to eat ice cream and a muffin that were great and we sat enjoying the hustle and bustle of the place, people who let themselves be seduced by sweets, chocolates and cakes, ice cream and by the area of the store where you can buy from jewelry to a tea set for example.

O Duomo é talvez o meu monumento preferido da cidade de Milão (ainda não conheço todos e daí o talvez). A sua grandiosidade e complexidade fazem com que mesmo que seja a segunda vez que o visito, fica sempre algo por ver, sempre a sensação de que ainda não o conheço e que quero voltar com mais tempo. É verdade que não tivémos tempo para ir ao topo e aproveitar a vista da cidade, imagino que seja o tipo de coisa que pede melhor tempo que o dia chuvoso que apanhámos.
The Duomo is perhaps my favorite monument in the city of Milan (still do not know all and hence the perhaps). Its grandeur and complexity make, even if it’s the second time I visit, always something worth seeing, I get that feeling that still do not know it and want to go back with more time. It is true that we had no time to go to the top and enjoy the view of the city, I imagine it’s the sort of thing that asks for better weather than the rainy day that we had.
