O seu estilo renascentista italiano faz destaca a Catedral da cidade, era a antiga igreja real e continua activa tanto como lugar de culto como museu. Para visitar o seu interior parecia que se pagava no entanto era hora da missa o que faz com que se possa entrar sem pagar, limitando ao mesmo tempo a possibilidade de ver com mais detalhe. É possível igualmente subir até á cúpula e ter uma boa vista sobre a cidade.

Its Italian renaissance style highlights the city’s Cathedral, it was the old royal church and remains as active as a place of worship as a museum. To visit its interior seemed to be paid, however it was time for the mass which makes it possible to enter without paying, limiting at the same time the possibility of seeing in more detail. You can also climb up to the dome and have a good view of the city.

Curry 61 – Berlim, Alemanha

Foi o segundo lugar que visitámos no nosso Food Tour e é considerado um dos melhores Currywurst da cidade, daqueles onde se fazem fila. Obstáculo que conseguimos ultrapassar por ir exactamente no tour e provámos fora de pé a sua salsicha com o famoso molho que procura respeitar o original de Herta Heuwer de 1949. Não somos os grandes especialistas no assunto, a guia dizia que era um dos lugares favoritos de quem realmente aprecia a receita.

It was the second place we visited on our Food Tour and is considered to be one of the best currywurst in the city, from the queue. Obstacle that we managed to overcome by going exactly on the tour and we tasted out their sausage with the famous sauce that seeks to respect the original Herta Heuwer of 1949. We are not the great experts in the subject, the guide said it was one of who really appreciates the recipe.

Oriel College – Oxford, Inglaterra

Fomos espreitar a Universidade de Oriel, não entrámos porque já não tínhamos mais tempo para fazer visitas mas vale a pena porque o seu interior é muito interessante. É a universidade real mais antiga da cidade, fundada durante o reinado de Eduardo II no século XIV. Já os seus edificios são mais recentes com as primeiras grandes remodelações no século XVII.

We went to take a peak at the University of Oriel, we did not enter because we did not have more time to make visits but it is worthwhile because its interior is very interesting. It is the oldest royal university in the city, founded during the reign of Edward II in the 14th century. The current buildings are more recent with the first great remodelings in XVII century.

Guia de Oxford

Numa viagem a Londres aproveitámos um dia para conhecer Oxford. Fomos no Verão apesar de não se notar tanto no seu tempo nublado mas não há sombra que lhe retire o encanto. A cada esquina uma universidade, um edificio bonito e cheio de histórias de estudantes para contar. Palco de vários filmes ganha ainda mais fama e protagonismo pelo Harry Potter e visitámos alguns dos lugares onde o filmaram, não por isso mas porque são realmente de visita obrigatória.

On a trip to London we took a day to get to know Oxford. We went in the summer despite not seing it so much in its cloudy weather but there is no shade to take away its charm. At every corner a university, a beautiful building full of stories to tell about their students. The stage of several films gains even more fame and spotlight by Harry Potter and we visited some of the places where they filmed it, not by this but because they are really a must visit.

A nossa passagem por Oxford foi de apenas um dia, conseguimos almoçar e ainda houve tempo para o lanche. Passeávamos perto das universidades e fica perto da de Jesus, Exeter e Lincoln, chamou-nos a atenção pelas suas grandes janelas com um balcão onde podes sentar-te, tomar um café e ver as pessoas a passar.

Our passage through Oxford was only for one day, we had lunch, and there was still time for lunch. We wandered close to the universities and close to Jesus, Exeter and Lincoln, drew our attention through its large windows with a counter where you can sit, have coffee and watch people go by. We are adding new places of the Principality of Asturias in this blog and it is the most beautiful regions of Spain, between the sea and the mountain, the most outstanding are the Picos de Europa, the cities of Gijón and Oviedo, beaches and breathtaking views. É uma pitoresca aldeia em Cangas de Narcea que estava a vinte cinco minutos do Parador de Corias e que sempre recomendam visitar para conhecer a autêntica vida dos que vivem nas Astúrias. Para chegar, encontramos uma estrada com alguns caminhos mais sinuosos típicos de uma zona rural e aproveitámos cada minuto para sacar fotos aos animais que íamos vendo, ás pontes antigas, etc.. Entre os animais que mais vimos destacam-se as vacas, que tivémos a sorte de ver passar pela própria aldeia graças a uma simpática senhora que sabendo que é algo que as crianças gostam de ver avisaram as nossas de que ia acontecer.

It is a picturesque village in Cangas de Narcea which was twenty five minutes from the Parador de Corias and they always recommend visiting to know the authentic life of those who live in Asturias. To get there, we found a road with some more winding paths typical of a rural area and we took every minute to take photos of the animals we were seeing, the old bridges, etc. Among the animals that we saw most were the cows, which we had the good fortune to see them pass by the village thanks to a nice lady who knowing that it is something that the children like to see have warned ours of what was going to happen.

É dificil pôr em palavras a experiência que foi “viver” quatro dias no Parador instalado no Mosteiro de Corias. Não conheço todos os Paradores de Espanha mas este conquistou-me e só tenho mesmo pena de que chegar até ele desde Madrid seja um caminho demasiado penoso para repetir mais vezes. Foi a primeira vez que estive num hotel onde pensei: “Quero viver aqui, não me quero ir embora!”. A localização, a tranquilidade, o facto de que podes aproveitá-lo mesmo quando chove, a piscina interior que os miúdos adoraram, as duas opções para comer: um restaurante mais especial e o bar para algo mais rápido e ligeiro. Recomendar é pouco, é quase de visita obrigatória.

It is difficult to put into words the experience that was “live” four days in the Parador installed in the Monastery of Corias. I do not know all the Paradors in Spain but this one has conquered me and I am only sorry that coming to it from Madrid is a way too painful to repeat more often. It was the first time I went to a hotel where I thought, “I want to live here, I do not want to leave!” The location, the tranquility, the fact that you can enjoy it even when it rains, the indoor pool that the kids loved, the two options to eat: a more special restaurant and the bar for something quicker and quicker. Recommend is little, it is almost a must visit.

Celebravam-se aqui até 1977 as habituais corridas de touros e quando se deixou de o fazer o edificio caiu em abandono para se transformar no Arenas de Barcelona, um interessante centro comercial que conta com um museu no seu interior (o Museu do Rock), cinemas e um roof top repleto de restaurantes e com vistas priveligiadas para cidade desde Montjüic ao Parc de Miró.

In this place were celebrated until 1977 the usual bullfights and when it was left to do so the building fell into abandonment to become the Arenas of Barcelona, an interesting commercial center that counts on a museum inside (the Rock Museum), cinemas and a roof top full of restaurants and with privileged city views from Montjüic to the Parc de Miró.

Txirimiri – Barcelona, Espanha

Tenho um fraquinho pelos pintxos, adoro a ideia de provar vários sabores em pequenas dentadas e uma das minhas primeiras viagens a Barcelona ficou marcada por petiscar num lugar parecido ao Txirimiri. Aqui encontramos a cozinha Vasco-Navarra marcando presença na Catalunha e fomos a uma hora com pouca gente, antes do jantar.

I have a crush on the pintxos, I love the idea of tasting several flavors in small bites and one of my first trips to Barcelona was marked by eating in a place similar to Txirimiri. Here we find the Vasco-Navarra cuisine marking its presence in Catalonia and we went at an hour with few people, before dinner.
