Chegámos á Karlsplatz depois de visitar o Palácio de Verão da familia real, já estava um pouco cansada mas a animação do mercado de Natal com a Karlskirche como pano de fundo fez ganhar um novo fôlego. É uma das maiores da cidade e á sua volta para além da igreja podemos encontrar uma universidade, o Musikverein (uma sala de concertos) e pelo Künstlerhaus, assim como dos pavilhões desenhados por Otto Wagner.
We reached the Karlsplatzafter visiting the Summer Palace of the Royalfamily, I was already a littletiredbut the animationof the Christmasmarket with the Karlskirche as a backdrop made me regain my strenght. It isone of thecity’s largest squaresandaround it,in addition to thechurchwe can finda university,theMusikverein(concert hall) and the Künstlerhaus, we can also see the pavilions designed by OttoWagner.

Visitar Viena no Natal tem o inconveniente do frio mas a grande vantagem da iluminação e animação que vemos pelas suas ruas, uma das que mais me chamou a atenção foi a Graben mesmo sem antes saber que é muito conhecida e é onde algumas das lojas mais caras abrem as suas portas. Dizem que tem a sua origem no século XIII e já com caracteristicas comerciais porque há registos da venda de frutas e verduras num mercado que aqui decorria.

Quando pensas numa casa de Verão não consegues imaginar que seria o Schönbrunn mas pensando nessa funcionalidade que a Imperatriz Maria Teresa o mandou construir, ela que teve dezasseis filhos e mais que nenhum outro monarca precisava de algo tão grandioso. Tudo começou com um pequeno pavilhão de caça e sobre ele outro palácio que Leopoldo I tinha projetado para o seu filho mas foi o pai de Maria Teresa que lhe ofereceu e ela aproveitou para o transformar no que agora chamam”Versalhes de Viena”. E é inevitável deixar de fazer comparações.
