Perto das Ramblas está o Palácio que o principal mecenas de Gaudí, Eusebi Güell lhe pediu para construir. É anterior á Casa Batló e á Pedrera, com uma fachada talvez mais austera se comparamos e que se parece um pouco mais com a Casa Botines em León. Outro exemplo do Modernismo lançado por Gaudí sempre inspirado em outras correntes artisticas como por exemplo o Gótico.

Near the Ramblas is the Palace that the main patron of Gaudí, Eusebi Güell asked him to build. It is anterior to Casa Batló and to Pedrera, with a facade perhaps more austere if we compare and that looks a bit more with the Casa Botines in Leon. Another example of Modernism launched by Gaudí is always inspired by other artistic trends such as the Gothic.

Churchill War Rooms – Londres, Inglaterra

Faz parte do Imperial War Museum e é uma viagem no tempo que ajuda a entender como viveram e trabalharam todos os que colaboraram com Churchill durante a participação dos na Segunda Guerra Mundial. Construído como um bunker, esteve activo entre 1939 e 1945, nele podemos ver os quartos do próprio Churchill assim como de alguns dos seus ministros.

It is part of the Imperial War Museum and is a time travel that helps you understand how all those who collaborated with Churchill during their involvement in World War II lived and worked. Built as a bunker, it was active between 1939 and 1945, in it we can see the rooms of Churchill himself as well as some of his ministers.

São vários os monumentos símbolos da cidade de Londres, este é um deles. A primeira construção é do século XI e esteve a cargo de Guilherme o Conquistador, desde então grande parte da história do país passa por aqui e alguns dos seus capítulos mais sagrentos como a execução de Anne Boleyn, a de Thomas Moore e o mistério dos Principes da Torre, entre outros. As entradas, com o nome de doação custam perto de vinte e cinco libras, um preço elevado mas o seu interior está tem vários edificios que se pode visitar mais os eventos teatrais que representam alguns dos momentos mais importantes da sua história.

There are several monuments symbols of the city of London, this is one of them. The first building dates from the 11th century and was run by William the Conqueror, since much of the country’s history has passed here and some of its most sacred chapters such as the execution of Anne Boleyn, Thomas Moore and the mystery of the Princes the Tower, among others. The entrances with the donation name cost close to twenty-five pounds, a high price but its interior is has several buildings that one can visit plus the theatrical shows to relive some important moments in its history.

Road Trip França :: Road Trip France

Nas nossas férias da Páscoa (Abril 2011) decidimos agarrar no nosso Golf e somar quilómetros para conhecer a França.  Foi uma viagem de 13 dias que começou em Madrid e terminou em Lisboa, sem crianças só os dois. Pelo meio conhecemos algumas das cidades mais interessantes do país vizinho (vivemos em Espanha) e todas diferentes, Colmar e Estrasburgo têm esse charme das casas com os decorados de madeira e os pequenos canais que as atravessam, Carcassonne e as suas muralhas, Nîmes com o anfiteatro romano, Lyon e a sua paixão pela cozinha, Biarritz e o seu ar surfer cool, etc..

On our Easter holidays (April 2011) we decided to grab our Golf and add kilometers to get to know France. It was a 13 day trip that started in Madrid and ended in Lisbon, without children only the two of us. In between we had the opportunity to discover some of the most interesting cities of the neighboring country (we live in Spain) and all different, Colmar and Strasbourg have this charm of the houses with the wooden decorations and the small canals that cross them, Carcassonne and its walls, Nîmes with the Roman amphitheater, Lyon and its passion for cooking, Biarritz and its cool surfer air, etc …

Na pousada onde estávamos  recomendaram ver este bairro cujo nome é quase impossível de dizer. Tem outro nome o de Ambasaguas, bastante mais agradável ao ouvido e mais fácil de entender já que se encontra entre dois rios, o Narcea e o Luiña. Bairro de origem medieval ainda mantém alguns dos seus edificios mais importantes como a Capela da Virgem de la Carmen e também o Palácio de Uría.

At our hotel we were recommended to see this neighborhood whose name is almost impossible to say. It has another name Ambasaguas, much more pleasant to the ear and easier to understand since it is between two rivers, Narcea and Luiña. Medieval neighborhood still retains some of its most important buildings such as the Chapel of the Virgin of Carmen and also the Palace of Uría. Fomos á Casa Luna em Tineo com um objectivo, provar o seu “Potaje”, um prato para valentes hoje em dia e uma necessidade para os que trabalhavam no campo. O restaurante fica na Cuesta del Crucero numa aldeia fora do centro de Tineo e tanto por fora como por dentro tem um aspecto cuidado, a sua carta tem alguns dos pratos mais relevantes da região.

We went to Casa Luna in Tineo with a purpose, to taste their “Potaje”, a dish for the brave nowadays and a necessity for those who worked in the countryside. The restaurant is on the Cuesta del Crucero in a village outside the center of Tineo and from the both inside and outside it has a neat look, its menu has some of the most relevant dishes of the region.

O seu centro é pequeno mas Tineo é um concelho onde tudo o que vemos é verde, essa cor tão asturiana. Tem outras cores no leque principalmente quando estamos na Plaza del Fontán, aqui encontramos a sede do concelho cuja colorida fachada tem nova cor. Sabes que estás no norte não só pelo grande contacto com a natureza como também pela arquitetura das casas com as varandas de madeira.

Its center is small but Tineo is a county where everything we see is green, this color so Asturian. It has other colors in the catalogue mainly when we are in the Plaza del Fontán, here we find the county seat whose colorful façade has a new color. You know that you are in the north not only because of the great contact with nature, but also because of the architecture of the houses with the wooden balconies.

Dois dos meus lugares favoritos para passar as férias de Verão. Ambos já bastante mais desenvolvidos e com ofertas hoteleiras que estão acima das possibilidades e por isso optamos por ficar em Alcácer do Sal estes últimos anos que temos ido. Aqui vens pela praia, pela sua extensão de areia e a sua água cristalina (sem sempre muito quente). Também se come bem, principalmente as amêijoas á bulhão pato, o peixe grelhado, entre outros pratos.

Two of my favorite places to spend the summer holidays. Both are already quite developed and with hotel offerings that are above possibilities and so we chose to stay in Alcácer do Sal these past few years that we have gone. Here you come for the beach, for its stretch of sand and its crystalline water (not always very hot). Also eat well, especially the clams with bulhão duck, grilled fish, among other dishes.

Há tanto tempo que queríamos conhecer A Escola que numas férias em Alcácer do Sal e com uns amigos espanhois acabámos por reservar, conseguir a mesa e sair contentes com a experiência. Instalado numa antiga escola primária, é interessante como não só preservam o edificio como a essência da gastronomia tradicional e regional.

For so long we wanted to know A Escola (The School) that on a holiday in Alcácer do Sal and with some Spanish friends we ended up booking, getting the table and leaving happy with the experience. Installed in an old primary school, it is interesting how they not only they preserve the building but also the essence of traditional and regional gastronomy.
