Já conhecíamos o Cantinho do Avillez em Lisboa (post aqui) e descobrimos que havia uma “sucursal” em Cascais, foi uma escolha óbvia para um jantar a dois e igualmente segura. A sua carta tinha alguns dos pratos que conhecemos quando estivémos em 2015 em Lisboa, a decoração sim que era diferente ao que nos lembrávamos, a outra tinha um aspecto de taberna mais tradicional esta parecia mais modernal, igualmente acolhedora. E vieram as memórias de quando ali comíamos no Lucullus.

We already knew Cantinho do Avillez in Lisbon (post here) and we found out that there was a “branch” in Cascais, it was an obvious choice for a dinner for two and equally safe. Your menu had some of the dishes we know when we were in 2015 in Lisbon, the decor was different from what we remembered, the other had a more traditional tavern look, this one seemed more modern, also welcoming. And the memories came from when we ate there at Lucullus.

Um dos nossos lugares favoritos para comer marisco em Cascais, por ser no mercado é sempre fresco e bem elaborado. Instalado no próprio mercado de Cascais, que se pode ver por umas janelas que deixaram abertas. Logo á entrada está a banca de marisco e é nela que escolhemos o que queremos para depois ser preparado ali ou na cozinha. E é impossível resistir…tanto marisco fresco, tanto por onde escolher e a preços razoáveis porque já sabemos que o marisco não é barato.

One of our favorite places to eat seafood in Cascais, being in the market is always fresh and well prepared. Installed in the Cascais market itself, which can be seen through some windows that were left open. Right at the entrance is the seafood stand and it is there that we choose what we want and then prepare it there or in the kitchen. And it is impossible to resist … so much fresh seafood, so much to choose from and at reasonable prices because we already know that seafood is not cheap.

Confraria do Sushi – Cascais, Portugal

Uma pequena casa típica do centro de Cascais é o lugar onde podemos degustar o maravilhoso sushi da Confraria, um dos meus favoritos. O porquê do seu éxito e longevidade diria que vem da qualidade do peixe, do seu corte e das combinações que fazem juntando as tradicionais com outras que são um descobrimento. Com uma decoração colorida a fugir dos asiáticos tradicionais e um eficiente atendimento é um dos que mais gostamos de repetir quando estamos na vila.

A small typical house in the center of Cascais is where we can taste the wonderful sushi of the Confraria, one of my favorites. The reason for its success and longevity would say that it comes from the quality of the fish, its cut and the combinations that they make between the traditional with others that are a discovery. With a colorful decor to escape the traditional Asians and an efficient service is one of the most we like to repeat when we are in the village.

Durante séculos os mercados eram o centro de uma cidade ou vila, ponte de encontro que não era apenas comercial mas também social foram perdendo a sua importância talvez por uma maior conveniência de outros formatos de loja que concorrem com este tipo. Felizmente chegou uma nova fórmula que lhes permitiu ganhar um novo fôlego e o mesmo passou com o movimentado Mercado de Cascais agora baptizado da Vila que mantém ainda viva essa parte mais tradicional mas ao qual se junta um oferta gastronómica que lhe permite estar sempre activo.

For centuries the markets were the center of a town or village, a meeting spot that was not only commercial but also social were losing their importance perhaps by a greater convenience of other store formats that compete with this type. Fortunately, a new formula has arrived that has allowed them to gain a new breath and the same happened with the bustling Cascais Market now baptized of the Vila that still keeps alive this more traditional part but which is joined by a gastronomic offer that allows it to be always active.

Cada vez que íamos a Portugal de fim de semana alguém recomendava comer os hamburguers do Gutsy, a liderar estas recomendações está o seu famoso hamburguer para corajosos com o nome da casa claro está e que poderia alimentar no minimo três pessoas com o seu meio quilo de carne picada. Fui em familia e cada um quería escolher o seu, não foi por isso por falta de coragem que não pedimos o maior hamburguer da casa mas pelo amor á variedade. A sua localização é muito recomendável, fica na agradável Praça do Junqueiro e conta com uma boa esplanada que permite sumar mais mesas ao interior apertado.

Every time we went to Portugal for the weekend someone recommended to eat the Gutsy hamburger, leading these recommendations is their famous burger for the brave ones with the name of the house obviously and could feed at least three people with their half kilo minced meat I went with the family and each one wanted to choose their own, it was not for lack of courage that we did not order the biggest burger in the house but for the love of variety. Its location is very recommendable, it is in the pleasant Square of the Junqueiro and has a good esplanade that allows to add more tables to the tight interior. Pequeno-almoço na Confeitaria da Guia – Cascais, Portugal

Domingo de manhã quase a ponto de regressar a Espanha e depois de uma noite com uma boa carga água saiu o sol mais forte que nunca dando um bom motivo para um pequeno-almoço com vista para o mar. Esse é um dos privilégios de o fazer na Confeitaria que era igualmente o único sitio aberto ás dez da manhã na zona da Casa da Guia.

House of Wonders – Cascais, Portugal

Conhecemos a House of Wonders o ano passado e é um daqueles lugares que fazia falta em Cascais, uma casa com varios ambientes que é uma Galeria e restaurante. Excelente para beber um sumo natural com vista para a vila desde o seu rooftop decorado com sofás feitos de paletes. Para os que vão com fome podem aproveitar escolher qualquer prato da sua carta em grande parte natural com sopas, quiches, saladas, tapas, etc..

We discovered the House of Wonders last year and is one of those places that was needed in Cascais, a house with several rooms which is a gallery and restaurant. Excellent to drink a natural juice overlooking the village from its rooftop decorated with sofas made of pallets. For those who go hungry can choose any dish from their menú in large part with natural soups, quiches, salads, tapas, etc ..

Cada dia vejo posts noutros blogs sobre novos restaurantes, cafés ou pastelarias que abrem aqui e a ali prometendo ser o novo sitio da moda e quando entrei na pastelaria Garrett no Estoril comecei a pensar um pouco sobre o meu próprio blog e se deveria escrever mais sobre os sitios da moda ou sobre os que sobrevivem ás modas e se tornam lugares obrigatórios. Abriu as suas portas em 1934 e com Estoril no seu apogeu tornou-se na pastelaria de referência para os lanches das senhoras finas da linha.
Every day I see posts in other blogs about new restaurants, cafes or bakeries that open here and there promises to be the new site of fashion and when I entered the pastry Garrett at Estoril I started thinking a bit about my own blog and if I ought to write more about fashionable new places or those that survive through time and become mandatory places. Opened its doors in 1934 and Estoril at its peak in the pastry has become a reference for the tea time of fine ladies from the area.

SOMOS UM REGALO – CASCAIS, PORTUGAL

Todos acham que quando venho a Portugal a primeira comida da qual quero matar saudades é o bacalhau (cozinhado das mil maneiras que somos capazes de o fazer) a verdade é que o que realmente quero comer assim que chego é um frango assado na brasa e os meus favoritos são os da Guia mais pequenos mas muito saborosos. Somos um Regalo é um restaurante que já conhecia em Sintra mas o de Cascais foi uma descoberta porque fica mais perto da nossa “casa”.
Everyone thinks that when I come to Portugal the first food of which I miss is killing cod (cooked the thousand ways we are able to do so) the truth is that what we really want to eat it so I get a roast chicken on the barbecue and my favorites are the Guia smaller but very tasty. We are a real treat is a restaurant that knew in Sintra but Cascais was a breakthrough because it is closer to our “home“.

Páteo do Petisco – Cascais, Portugal

Com a moda dos restaurantes de petiscos para os lados da capital, faltava em Cascais um sitio agradável onde comer bem e conviver com amigos á volta de clássicos como ovos com farinheira, moelas, morcela assada, lascas de batata, etc.. Faltava, já não falta. Agora há o Páteo dos Petisco que parece difícil de encontrar mas lá conseguimos descubri-lo muito próximo de Birre.
With the fashionable restaurants of “petiscos” (smaller portions of food like tapas) in the capital, Cascais was missing a nice place where one could eat well and hangout with friends around classics like eggs with sausage, “moelas”, roast black pudding, potato chips, etc. .. It was missing, but that was the past. Now there is the Páteo do Petisco that seems hard to find but we got there we discovered it very close to Birre.
