Foi numa revista de viagens espanhola que soube da existência de este Palácio em Lisboa muito perto do Parque da Serafina. Foi uma autêntica surpresa e não podíamos perder a antiga casa do 1º Marquês de Fronteira, D. João Mascarenhas que o construiu em 1670 inicialmente como pavilhão de caça. Para além do interior do Palácio é possível visitar o seu impressionante jardim onde se destaca todo o trabalho de azulejos.
It was throuh a Spanish travel magazine that I’ve learned of the existence of this palace in Lisbon very close to the Serafina Park. It was a real surprise and we could not miss the former home of the 1st Marquis of Fronteira, D. Joao Mascarenhas who built it in 1670 originally as a hunting lodge. In addition to the interior of the Palace you can visit the magnificent gardens which one of the main highlights is the tiles work.

Tivémos sorte na Páscoa com o tempo em Lisboa, dias solarengos que pediam tardes de esplanada com um bom livro e uma boa bebida. Pensámos no Sky Bar no último andar do Tivoli Hotel da Avenida da Liberdade que ainda não conhecíamos e que foi uma agradável surpresa, tem uma excelente vista sobre a cidade de onde podemos ver o Castelo de S. Jorge e margem sul do Tejo.
We were lucky with the weather on Easter in Lisbon, sunny days asked for terrace afternoons with a good book and a good drink. We thought of the Sky Bar on the top floor of the Tivoli Hotel Avenida da Liberdade that we still did not know and that was a pleasant surprise, has a great view of the city from where we can see the Castle of St. George and south bank of the Tagus.

Fui jantar ao Sushi Factory sem grandes expectativas do que ia encontrar, é verdade que tinha um grande desejo de comer bom sushi e deixar-me surpreender por novas combinações e acabou por ser uma boa experiência.
O empregado informou-nos do menú de 16,90€ (sem bebida) onde há uma entrada de hot sushi, uma sopa misu e podemos comer sushi até não poder mais, foi música para os nosso ouvidos e cumpria o nosso objetivo.

Praça Luís de Camões – Lisboa, Portugal

Ponto de encontro. É a primeira coisa que me vem á cabeça quando penso na Praça Luís de Camões. Foi, é e seguirá sendo um dos principais pontos da vida social de Lisboa, reinventar-se mesmo quando por exemplo o Bairro Alto está em baixa, aqui é o sitio onde muitos se juntam para começar o dia mas principalmente para começar noite.
É por isso normal ver muita animação de gente por aqui, muitos sentados aos pés de Camões a conviver ou a contemplar esta parte da cidade.

Meeting point. It’s the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the Luís de Camões Square. Was, is and will remain a major point of social life in Lisbon reinventing itself even when for example the Bairro Alto is not in it’s highest, here is the place where many gather to start the day but mainly to start the night.
It is normal to see a great buzz of people here, many sitting at the feet of Camões hanging out or contemplating this part of town.

O Sea Me era um dos restaurantes que tinha muita curiosidade em conhecer este Verão e depois de ouvir tantos elogios sobre ele lá conseguimos experimentar. Esta peixaria serve peixe e marisco fresco com uma ementa moderna onde receitas mais tradicionais da nossa culinária se misturam como outras como por exemplo o sushi e para mim foi a combinação ideal porque é um lugar onde o posso comer enquanto alguém que não gosta pode provar outros pratos.
The Sea Me was one of the restaurants was very curious to meet this summer and after hearing so many raves about we were able to try it. This fish shop serves fresh seafood with a more modern menu where traditional recipes of our cuisine mingle as others such as sushi and for me it was the ideal combination because it is a place where I can eat it while someone who does not like it can prove taste other dishes.

Para os que fazem romarias até Belém para comer os pastéis têm uma excelente alternativa no Chiado: a Manteigaria – Fábrica de Pastéis de Nata. Uma ideia do chef Miguel Rocha Vieira que juntamente com Rogério Loupas recuperou da melhor forma este emblemático edificio para fabricar de forma tradicional o maior ícone da pastelaria portuguesa.

For those who make pilgrimages to Belém to eat the “pastéis” have an excellent alternative in Chiado: a Manteigaria – Pastel de Nata Factory. Aproveitando as nossas férias de Verão em Lisboa fomos almoçar ao Time Out Mercado da Ribeira e que já se tornou um espaço de referência gastronómica com a ajuda da revista que lhe dá o nome que todas as semanas publica um artigo sobre as novidades que por lá podemos encontrar e provar. O verdadeiro Mercado da Ribeira continua a funcionar com as bancas da fruta e verdura e gostaria de acreditar que ter um vizinho tão famoso reanime o gosto por comprar nos mercados.
Taking advantage of our summer holidays in Lisbon we went to lunch at Time Out Mercado da Ribeira and has already become a gastronomic reference with the help of the magazine that gives it’s name that every week publishes an article on the new things one can find and taste here. The real Ribeira Market continues to work with the stalls of fruit and vegetables and I would like to believe that having such a famous neighbor will revive the taste for shopping in these more traditional markets.

Torre de Belém – Lisboa, Portugal

Parece incrível viver tantos anos em Lisboa e nunca ter visitado o interior da Torre de Belém, como não fui em nenhuma visita da escola também não fiz nenhum esforço por visitá-la depois. Porquê? Nem sei explicar, ela sempre esteve ali no seu sitio e eu passeava muito á sua volta, via desde o comboio quando ia de Cascais a Lisboa e só quando fui viver para Madrid, senti que afinal deveria conhecê-la melhor. E estava um dia muito bom para o fazer…
It seems incredible that I lived many years in Lisbon and have never visited the interior of the Tower of Belém, as I was never on one of it’s visits from school and also made ​​no effort to visit it later. Why? Can’t really explain, it was always there in this place  and I walked a lot around it, via the train when going from Cascais to Lisbon and only when I moved to Madrid, I felt that after all I should know it better. And it was a very good day to do it…

Choupana Caffe – Lisboa, Portugal

Quando comprei um guia da Timeout com o resumo do ano um dos brunch recomendados era o da Choupana Caffe e porque o nome me traz á memoria um outro familiar (de um outro restaurante) achei que as duas coisas estavam relacionadas. Parece que não a ver pelo o aspecto do Caffe na Avenida da República. Seguindo a mesma linha de uma nova geração de pastelarias com uma imagem cuidada e moderna, é a promessa de bolos, croissants e pãezinhos de fabrico próprio que parece ser a chave do êxito.
When I bought the Timeout guide with the summary of the year one of the recommended brunch was the one from Choupana (Hut) Caffe and because the name reminds me of another familiar one (another restaurant) I thought the two things were related. It seems not judging by the look of this Caffe on Avenue of the Republic. Following the same line of a new generation of pastry with a careful and modern image is the promise of cakes, croissants and home-made biscuits which seems to be the key to success.

Tenho que agradecer á R por alguns dos lugares que me ajudou a descubrir num dia que estivémos juntas em Lisboa e este foi o primeiro. O Poison D’ Amour é uma pastelaria e salão de chá na zona do Principe Real e logo á entrada uma vitrina expõem o que chamam o “veneno do amor”,  autênticas obras da fina pastelaria francesa que primeiro nos conquistam pela visão e depois pelo paladar.
I must thank R for some of the places that she helped me to discover one day that we were together in Lisbon and this was the first one we went to. The Poison D’Amour is a pastry shop and tea room in the Principe Real area and right at the entrance a window displays what they call the “Poison of Love”, true works of fine French pastries that first conquer us by sight and then by taste.
