O Ramiro não reserva mesas. O quê? Senti um nó na garganta, tinha prometido aos meus colegas espanhois que iríamos a este lugar, um clássico de Lisboa de esses dias de petisco que tanto me fazia lembrar o Verão e aquelas vindas da Praia que só pediam para passar por aqui. Queria tanto que eles tivessem a mesma experiencia e depois de muito insistir, de dizer que jantaríamos depois da 22h30, conseguimos que nos fossem guardando mesas mesmo com uma fila fora que achei inacreditável. Pergunto-me se só pelo o Anthony Bourdain conseguiu mais fama da que já tinha, eu continuo a achar que é pela a sua inabalável qualidade e tradição.
“Ramiro does not book tables.” What? I felt a lump in the throat, I had promised my fellow Spaniards we would go to this place, a classic of Lisbon of those days of “petisco” (snack) that reminded me of summer and those days coming from the beach that asked to come here. I so wish they had the same experience and after much stress, to saying that we would have diner after 22:30, we got them saving us same tables with a queue outside which I found unbelievable. I wonder if only by Anthony Bourdain they achieved more fame they already had, I still find that it is because of their unwavering quality and tradition.

Nata Lisboa – Portugal

The World Needs Nata, egoístamente pensando não quero saber se o mundo precisa de Nata eu sei que preciso dela e enquanto passeava por Lisboa decidi parar aqui para matar saudades de um bom pastel de nata. Nada retira uma visita aos famosos Pastéis de Belém mas no que diz respeito ao de nata parecia que podíamos comer em qualquer pastelaria e não é bem assim, a Manteigaria e a Nata Lisboa vêm demonstrar que podem ser muito bons e parecidos ao original.
The World Needs Cream, thinking selfishly I do not care if the world needs Nata I know I need it and while walking through Lisbon I decided to stop here to catch up with a good custard tart. Not to detract from a visit to the famous Pastel de Belém but with regard to the “nata” it seemed we could eat anywhere but is not so, the Manteigaria and Nata Lisboa come to demonstrate that they can be very good and similar to the original.

Este foi um dos museus que sempre quis visitar quando vivia em Portugal mas nunca o fiz, foi preciso vir passar as férias da Páscoa a Lisboa para finalmente decidir que não podíamos continuar na ignorância. O Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga é essencial para conhecer mais sobre a história do nosso país e para pôr cara a algumas personagens emblemáticas como por exemplo D. Sebastião ou Vasco da Gama, ou geração de ouro dos Descobrimentos presente nos carismáticos Painéis de S. Vicente de Fora, o principal símbolo de este espaço.
This was one of the museums that I always wanted to visit while living in Portugal but I never did, we came to spend the Easter holidays in Lisbon and finally decide that we could not continue in ignorance. The National Museum of Ancient Art is essential to know more about the history of our country and to put face to some iconic characters such as D. Sebastião or Vasco da Gama, or the golden generation of this Discoveries in the charismatic St. Vincent Panels, the main symbol of this space.

Insólito – Lisboa, Portugal

O Insólito é verdadeiramente…insólito talvez pela sua decoração de uma estranha maneira consegue uma excelente combinação de cores, de azulejos e até de texturas. Localizado no último andar de um edificio paredes meias com o The Independente e pertence tudo ao mesmo, dizem que o seu ponto forte é a esplanada mas como fui para um jantar com a empresa estava fechada porque fomos ainda no Inverno. Foi uma pena porque deu para perceber que tem uma das melhores vistas sobre a cidade a mesma do Miradouro de S. Pedro de Alcântara mas com uma vantagem na altura.
The Insólito (Unusual) is truly unusual … maybe because it is decorated in a weird way achieving a great combination of colors, tiles and even textures. Located on the top floor of a building next door to the The Independent and belongs to it, some say its strong point is the terrace but as I went to dinner with the company it was closed because we were still in winter. It was a shame because I could see that it has one of the best views of the city the same as the S. Pedro de Alcantara belvedere but with a height advantage.

Solar do Vinho do Porto – Lisboa, Portugal

O primeiro Solar do Vinho do Porto foi o da cidade que lhe dá o nome, lembro-me da fantástica vista que tinha para o Douro e recebi com alguma tristeza a noticia de que tinha fechado (em 2012) sendo o de Lisboa o único que está em funcionamento. São os eventos e o turismo que mantêm este vivo oferecendo uma grande variedade de marcas algumas emblemáticas. Pertence ao Instituto dos Vinhos do Porto principal embaixador de esta bebida famosa no mundo inteiro.
The first Solar do Vinho do Porto was of the city that gives it its name, I remember the fantastic view that it had of the Douro river and received with some sadness the news that it had closed (in 2012) and Lisbon has the only one is in operation. The events and tourism keep this one living offering a wide variety of brands some emblematic. It belongs to the Institute of Vinhos do Porto ambassador of this famous drink worldwide.

Eu vivi em Lisboa a época dourada das Docas de Santo Amaro agora longe da cidade não sei se continua mas a verdade é que quase todos os espanhois que iam comigo na viagem queriam passar por aqui. Já nem me lembrava de alguns dos seus restaurantes, um dos favoritos do grupo era o Doca Peixe com a sua montra de peixe fresco e marisco que convida para além da sua esplanada com vista para o Tejo e para a Ponte.

I lived in Lisbon the golden age of the Santo Amaro docks now far from the city I do not know if it continues but the truth is that almost all the Spaniards who traveled with me on this trip wanted to go there. I did not even remembered of some of its restaurants, a favorite of the group was the Doca Peixe (Fish dock) with its showcase of fresh fish and seafood inviting beyond its terrace overlooking the Tagus and Bridge.

Miradouro de Santa Catarina – Lisboa, Portugal

A melhor maneira de apreciar Lisboa é através dos seus miradouros. Desde sempre foram ponto de encontro e zonas de lazer, o de Santa Catarina não foge á regra com uma excelente vista para o rio Tejo e para a Ponte 25 de Abril que se torna épica quando o sol se põe, melhor parte é estar sentado no Noobai Café para assisti-lo mas há outras alternativas com o pequeno jardim onde nos podemos sentar (na altura que fomos estava fechado para rehabilitar o relvado).
The best way to enjoy Lisbon is through its viewpoints. They have always been a meeting point and recreational areas, the Santa Catarina is no exception to the rule with a great view of the Tagus river and the 25 de Abril bridge that becomes epic when the sun goes down, the best part is sitting in Noobai Café to watch it but there are other alternatives like the small garden where we can sit (at the time we went was closed to rehabilitate the lawn).

Feira da Ladra, Lisboa – Portugal

Tenho tantas memórias da Feira da Ladra de quando era miúda e íamos procurar discos em segunda mão que revisitar este espaço chegou a significar mais do que esperava. Este mercado ao ar livre instalado no Campo de Santa Clara vende velharias, objectos em segunda-mão, artesanato mas tem também as típicas bancadas de feira normal que vendem roupa entre outros artigos. Todas as terças e Sábados da parte da manhã podemos encontrar aqui colecionadores ou curiosos em busca de pechinchas ou peças para a sua coleção.
I have so many memories of the Feira da Ladra – flea market when I was a kid and we would look for second-hand vynil discs to revisit this space has come to mean more than expected. This outdoor market installed on the Campo de Santa Clara sells junk, second-hand objects, handicrafts but also has the typical standard fair stalls selling clothes and other items. Every Tuesday and Saturday morning we can find here collectors or curious in search of bargains or pieces for their collection.

Cantinho do Avillez – Lisboa, Portugal

Conseguimos na Páscoa ir a outro dos restaurantes do José Avillez, o seu Cantinho. Fica no Chiado ao lado da sua Pizzeria e muito perto do Belcanto, digamos que com poucos passos o Chef Avillez pode vigiar os seus restaurantes. É sempre conveniente reservar mesmo sendo só duas pessoas, nós por exemplo só conseguimos mesa para as 22h30, nenhum problema pelo o nosso horário espanhol.
Gostei muito do ambiente do restaurante, descontraído e acolhedor, simples e com alguns detalhes tradicionais, gostei de estar sentada e ver a bancada de preparação das sobremesas.
We were able to go this Easter to another restaurant of José Avillez, his Cantinho (= Little Corner). Is in the Chiado next to his Pizzeria and very close to Belcanto, let’s say that with few steps Chef Avillez can watch all his restaurants. It is always convenient to book even if it is just for two people, for example we only got a table for 22.30, no problem because of our Spanish time.
I really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant, relaxed and friendly, simple and with some traditional details, enjoyed sitting down and watch the preparation of desserts counter.

Park – Lisboa, Portugal

Por todo lado se fala do Park, ou é algum espanhol que te conta sobre o bar com uma vista incrível que fica dentro de um parque de estacionamento, ou o New York Times que o publica na sua guia atualizada de 36 horas em Lisboa ou por exemplo a revista Traveller que também coloca este lugar no roteiro. Este animado espaço no último andar de um parque no Bairro Alto divide-se em três espaços diferente com dois bares, sendo a zona mais concorrida a que tem vista para a Ponte 25 de Abril e o ideal é esperar pelo pôr-do-sol.
Everywhere is speaking about the park, either is a spanish friend who tells you about the bar with an incredible view which is in a parking lot, or the New York Times publishes in its updated guide of 36 hours in Lisbon or  for example the Traveller magazine that also puts this place on the route. This lively place on the last floor of a  car park in Bairro Alto is divided into three different spaces with two bars, the most crowded area that overlooks the 25th of April Bridge and it’s ideal to wait for the setting of the sun.
