Regresso aos posts sobre Florença, ainda tenho muito mais que contar sobre esta cidade. Queria muito escrever sobre esta basílica porque foi a minha igreja preferida e mesmo ao editar as fotos tinha os pelos em pé ao reviver a sensação de a ter visitado. O Duomo é fantástico por fora mas Santa Maria Novella não tendo a mesma dimensão e grandeza exterior, esconde no seu interior autênticas riquezas que o interior do Duomo jamais conseguirá alcançar.

I return to the posts about Florence, I still have much more to tell about this city. I really wanted to write about this basilica because it was my favorite church and even as I was editing the potos I was thrilled to relive the feeling of having visited it.
The Duomo is fantastic on outside but Santa Maria Novella although it doesn’t have the same size and grandeur exterior, hides inside  riches that the interior of the Duomo will never be able to achieve.

Galeria Dell’Accademia – Florença, Itália

Depois de ler alguns guias sobre Florença, a primeira coisa que fiz foi marcar dois museus, o de Uffizi e este Dell’Accademia. Este último para poder contemplar a grandiosa obra de Michelangelo, David.
Como não sabíamos muito bem como funcionavam as reservas, se tínhamos que ir antes levantar os bilhetes se íamos á hora marcada resolvemos espreitar e tivémos sorte, tínhamos visita para as 14h e acabámos por entrar ás 12h. Vale a pena reservar porque entras á frente de todos os grupos de visita e todos os que não anteciparam a compra dos bilhetes.
After reading some guides about Florence, the first thing I did was book two museums in advance, the Uffizi and this Dell’Accademia. The latter was to be able to admire the great work of Michelangelo, David.
As we did not know very well how the reservation worked, if we had to go before to get the tickets if we were peering at the scheduled time and decided to take a look so we were lucky, we had to visit it at 14h and we were able to get in at 12h. It’s worth booking ahead as you enter before all visiting groups and those who did not anticipate the purchase of tickets.

Brown Sugar Lounge Bar – Florença, Itália

No nosso primeiro dia em Florença jantámos no Brown Sugar. Foi daquelas decisões de impulso que tínhamos jurado não tomar depois de ter tido alguma má experiência, mas aconteceu depois de termos duas recomendações de restaurante que não resultaram: o primeiro estava fechado e o segundo estava em obras. Na zona estava este que dizia ter massa fresca e decidimos experimentar.
On our first day in Florence we had dinner at Brown Sugar. It was those impulse decisions that we had sworn not to take after we have had a bad experience, but it happened after two of restaurant recommendations that didn’t work out: the first was closed and the second was in the works. In this area there was this one that said it had fresh pasta and we decided to try.

Batistério de S. João – Florença, Itália

O que mais me impressiona neste conjunto arquitectónico do Duomo, do Campanario de Giotto e do Batistério são os detalhes, uma janela é decorada com uma moldura de mármore de duas cores e uma porta tem relevos históricos. No caso do batistério as Portas de Ghiberti são dignas de visita e nem tens que pagar para vê-las porque estão do lado de fora mesmo em frente á entrada do Duomo.
What impresses me most about this architectural ensemble of the Duomo, together with the Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistery are the details, a window frame is decorated with a marble in two colors and a door has historical reliefs. In the case of the baptistery the Ghiberti doors are worth visiting and one doesn’t have to pay to see them because they are outside  in front of the Duomo’s main entrance.

Ponte Vecchio – Florença, Itália

A Ponte Vecchio foi o primeiro monumento que vimos em Florença, caminhámos quase 1,5km junto ao rio Arno para poder vê-la e a expectativa era grande. Só tivémos pena de uma coisa, faltou o sol. Pode não ser tão monumental como o Duomo mas o facto de estar ali desde o século XIV já te impressiona.
The Ponte Vecchio was the first monument we saw in Florence, we walked almost 1.5 kilometers along the river Arno to be able to see it and the expectation was great. We were only sorry about one thing, it wasn’t a sunny day. It may not be as monumental as the Duomo but the fact that it is since the XIV century does impress you.

Semana Santa. Chegámos ao hotel, deixámos as malas no hotel e partimos em busca dos primeiros síntomas de Síndrome de Stendhal. Passámos na Ponte Vecchio, fantástica mas o ritmo cardíaco continua normal. Seguimos a multidão em busca do Duomo e assim que vês o seu campanario lá começa o coração a acelerar. Dizem que tamanha beleza pode provocar um desmaio, mas nem o imaginas porque queres aproveitar cada segundo para analizar cada milímetro da mais fantástica obra feita em mármore.
Holy Week. We reached the hotel, we left our bags there and set off in search of the first symptoms of Stendhal Syndrome. We passed on the Ponte Vecchio, it was fantastic but the heart rhythm remains normal. We followed the crowd in search of the Duomo and as son as you see the bell tower the heart starts accelerating. They say that such beauty can cause fainting, but you can’t even imagine it because you want to enjoy every second analyzing every millimeter of the most fantastic work done in marble.
