The largest Ferris Wheel in Europe offers great views of London from its 135 meters high and say that the best time to visit is in the sunset or at night to see the city lights. It was inaugurated in 2000 and is sponsored by Coca-Cola, contains thirty-two capsules quite spacious, air conditioned and with information (in several languages) about what we are seeing. You do need to find the ideal time to “embark” because the queues are extensive but from our experience they go fast.

The ticket is bought on the building that is on the left side of the Ferris wheel, we made the mistake of buying a combined with the Madame Tussaud (error because we did not save money or escaped the queues). After purchasing the tickets we watched a 4D film about the London Eye following a seagull flying through the city.
It was about twenty minutes waiting to get inside one of their cocoons with about a dozen people and simply enjoy the view. South Bank, Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, skyscraper Shard are a part of what we see and how we went at sunset making it a more interesting touch. And what impressed me most was the stability of the cabin and I who am not the biggest fan of heights felt completely at ease, I would say it was one of the things I liked best in London.

Há muito tempo que queria provar a versão económica do Chef madrilenho David Muñoz, o StreetXo esteve primeiro no El Corte Inglés da Callao e foi uma grande frustração fazer tempo para que abrisse para ficar cheio em dois segundos não podendo aproveitar a experiência. Voltámos a tentar no da Serrano porque o outro deixou de existir, agora com mais espaço, com uma barra maior e mais mesas que aqui são suas e não partilham com outras ofertas gastronómicas. A fusão entre a cozinha ibérica e a asiática é uma experiência a não perder e vale a pena nem que seja os vinte minutos de espera.
For a while I wanted to taste the economic version of the Madrid-based Chef David Muñoz, the StreetXo that was first in the El Corte Inglés of Callao and was a great frustration to wait for a while and when it opened filled in two seconds so we could not enjoy the experience. We tried again in Serrano because the other ceased to exist, now with more space, with a larger bar and more tables in it’s own private area not sharing room with other culinary offerings. The fusion between the Iberian cuisine and Asian is an experience not to be missed and is worth even the twenty minutes of waiting.

Os comboios turísticos sempre levam a debates se realmente são a melhor maneira de conhecer uma cidade, eu pessoalmente não sou contra acho que eles servem um propósito que é dar a conhecer uma cidade como se fosse um guia turístico sobre rodas permitindo ver o principal sem ter que andar tanto a pé. Algo que valorizo por ter filhos ou quando mostrar uma cidade aos meus pais que já não estão com idade para grandes caminhadas. Foi a primeira o motivo de apanhar o comboio, qual é a criança que não gosta de andar num?
Tourist trains always lead to discussions if they really are the best way to know a city, I personally am not against them I think they serve a purpose which is to present a city like a tour guide on wheels so you can see the main monuments without to walking so much on foot. Something I value by having children or when to show a city to my parents who are no longer with age for long walks. It was because of the first that we took the train, which is the child who does not like to walk in?


Decidimos não contratar pequeno-almoço no nosso hotel (era muito $$$$) e foi assim que chegámos ao Rua 11, sem ter que fazer uma grande caminhada. Achei que era bastante acolhedor por dentro e foi o que primeiro nos chamou a atenção, queríamos o típico pequeno-almoço espanhol: pan tostado con tomaca e café con leche, bom no meu caso era mais leite com chocolate. Tínhamos pedido umas fatias de bolo mas ao parecer eram oferta com os cafés o que foi ainda melhor.
We decided not to hire breakfast at our hotel (it was very $$$$) and that’s how we arrived at Rua 11, without having to do a great walk. Found it quite cozy inside and was what first caught our attention, we wanted the typical spanish breakfast: toasted bread con tomaca (tomato sauce) and cafe con leche, well in my case it was more chocolate milk. We had ordered a cake slices but apparently wthey ere offering them with the cafes which was even better.
