Esta rua pedonal é das mais movimentadas de Majadahonda principalmente aos Sábados pela manhã, durante ou depois do mercado que fica ali perto onde se pode comprar fruta, legumes e roupa. Depois há uma autêntica romaria pela Gran Vía, se o tempo está bom as esplanadas de esta rua enchem com familias a tomar uma “caña” ou um vermut enquanto lhes servem uma tapa e vão vigilando as crianças que por ali brincam sem grandes preocupações.

A passada sexta-feira 13, não teve nada de azar só coisas boas. O marido conseguiu ver os jogos da Davis Cup e a seguir veio ter comigo ao Teatro Calderón na Calle Atocha para uma surpresa: ver o espectáculo Pagagnini, uma mistura de música clásica e humor.
Quatro músicos num palco, três violinos e um violoncelo. Músicas de Mozart, Chopin, Paganini e U2 que tocaram, dançaram e emocionaram o público.
 
The last Friday the 13th, had nothing but good things to chance. The husband managed to see Davis Cup matches and then came to me the Teatro Calderón in Calle Atocha for a surprise: Pagagnini see the show, a mix of classical music and mood.
Four musicians on stage, three violins and a cello. Music of Mozart, Chopin, Paganini and U2 played, danced and thrilled the audience.

As nossas entradas custaram 29€ por pessoa, ficámos no primeiro piso porque achei que as mesas na parte de baixo iam ser desconfortáveis e assim pareceram. Os músicos eram espanhóis (Eduardo Ortega, Gartxot Ortiz e Fernando Clemente) com excepção do líder Ara Malikian que nasceu no Líbano. 
Os nossos momentos preferidos foram o solo de Eduardo Ortega que tocou “With or Without You” dos U2 com um violino eléctrico e o Inverno de Vivaldi.
O Teatro Calderón foi inaugurado em 1917 mas tinha outro nome, Odeón. Tive tanta pena de não ter comigo a minha outra câmara fotografar dignamente este lugar cheio de história, de resto durante o espectáculo não permitem fotografar nem gravar.
 
Our tickets cost 29€ per person, we were on the first floor because I thought the tables at the bottom would be uncomfortable and seemed that way. The musicians were Spaniards (Eduardo Ortega, Gartxot Ortiz and Fernando Clemente) except for the leader Ara Malikian who was born in Lebanon.
Our favorite moments were the solo by Eduardo Ortega who played “With or Without You” from U2 with an electric violin and Winter by Vivaldi.
The Teatro Calderón was inaugurated in 1917 but with another name, Odeon. I was so sorry that I didn’t have my other camera to take photos worthy of this place full of history, during the rest of the show you are not allow to photograph or record.

O Quilombo não foi a nossa primeira escolha, queríamos ir ao Mercado de La Reina mas estava cheio e optámos por descubrir este novo lugar de “tapas e cañas” na Gran Vía. Pertence a um grupo argentino de restauração que se chama RE, tem uma decoração moderna e descontraída, eu diría que chega a misturar muitos estilos num só mas é um lugar dinâmico onde podes jantar ou beber um copo com os amigos enquanto ouves música ao vivo.
 
The Quilombo was not our first choice, we wanted to go to the Mercado de La Reina but it was full and we decided to find out this new place of “tapas and cañas” in Gran Vía. Belongs to an argentine restaurants group called RE, has a modern and relaxed decor, I’d say it has to many mixed styles in only one spot but it is  a dinamic place where you can dine or have a drink with friends while listening to some live music.

Nós fomos jantar depois de ter subido á açoteia do Círculo das Belas Artes, não queríamos comer muito e pedimos umas tapas para dividir. Optámos pelos clássicos: croquetes (ou croquetas) de presunto e os “huevos rotos”, pedimos também um provoleta com tomate confitado. Os dois primeiros pratos estavam regulares mas o que nos faria voltar foi mesmo o queijo derretido com doce de tomate. Gostámos da combinação e estava muito bom.
Para matar a sede umas “cañas” da Estrella Galicia. Ficou a uns 12€ por pessoa, é um bom sitio para beber um copo enquanto petiscas algo e o melhor é não ter grandes expectactivas.
Tinha um defeito, a música estava muito alta, parece que é coisa do ADN do restaurante porque tinha uma mesa de mistura e anúncios de noites com DJ’s, também tem uma agenda de música ao vivo.

We went to dinner after visiting the Circulo de Bellas Artes (Fine Arts) rooftop we didn’t want to eat much and ordered some tapas to share. We opted for the classics: “croquetas” with ham and “huevos rotos”, we also has a provoleta with tomato confit. The first two dishes were regular but we would return for the melted cheese with tomato jam. We liked the combination and it was very good.
To quench our thirst a “cañas” Estrella Galicia. It was about 12 € per person, it’s a good place for a drink while snacking something and the best is to go with no big expectactions.
It a problem, the music was too loud, it seems that there is something in the DNA of this restaurant because they had a music mixing table and ads for the nights with DJ’s, also has a schedule of live music.

Azotea do Círculo de las Bellas Artes – Madrid, Espanha

As açoteias, ou “azoteas” ou “roof tops” são a grande moda deste Verão em Madrid, eu diria que a grande estrela foi a do Círculo de Bellas Artes que já existia e estava aberta ao público mas com a entrada de uma oferta de restauração tornou-a no sitio onde todos querem estar principalmente ao fim do dia para ver o sol a despedir-se da cidade.
The terraces, or “azoteas” or “roof tops” are all the rage this summer in Madrid, I would say the big star is the Círculo de Bellas Artes that already existed and was open to the public but with the opening of a restaurant and bar made it to the place where everyone wants to be mainly in the evening to watch the sun saying goodbye to the city.

Cala Belladona – Platja D’Aro, Espanha

O que mais gosto da Costa Brava é á sensação que te dá encontrar as Calas (pequenas praias) de água cristalina. Platja D’Aro é uma zona com bastante turismo mas que te permite ao mesmo tempo encontrar sitios como a Cala de Belladona que estando escondida pelas rochas e arvoredo não deixa de ser conhecida.
Na realidade quase a perdíamos porque quando espreitei a primeira vez não me pareceu haver Praia, só descendo um pouco mais percebi que si e foram muitos os degraus até pôr o pé na areia.
What I like most in Costa Brava is the feel that gives you finding the Calas (small beaches) of crystalline water. Platja D’Aro is an area with plenty of tourism but at the same time lets you find places like Cala de Belladona that although hidden by rocks and trees it is still known.
In fact we almost lost it because when I peeked the first time there seemed  to be no beach, I went down a little more and realized that it existed and we went down many steps to set foot on the sand.

Depois dos mergulhos, das brincadeiras na areia e dos banhos do sol, o estômago começou a pedir comida e há uma meia-dúzia de restaurantes no Passeig Mar colado á praia de Tamariu. Nós escolhemos o Royal, na realidade todos tinham bastante gente e tinham uma ementa similar era uma questão de descubrir a especialidade de cada um.
After the diving, the playing in the sand and sun bathing, the stomach began to beg for food and there are a half-dozen restaurants on Passeig Mar glued to the Tamariu beach. We chose the Royal, in reality all had a lot of people and had a similar menú it was a matter of discover the specialty of each.

Cadaqués, Palafrugell, Sa Conca, Tamariu entre tantas outras praias deram-me vontade de fazer umas férias diferentes como fizémos na Grécia onde alugámos uma mota e fomos explorando cada Praia da ilha de Mykonos. A Costa Brava está cheia de praias que não ficam em nada atrás desta famosa ilha grega, uma delas é a da baía de Tamariu com a sua água cristalina.

Cadaqués, Palafrugell, Sa Conca, Tamariu among many other beaches made me want to do a different type of holidays like the ones we had in Greece where we rented a motorbike and went exploring every beach on the island of Mykonos. The Costa Brava is full of beaches that are not at all behind the ones in this famous Greek island, one of them is the bay of Tamariu with its crystal clear water.

Cadaqués – Costa Brava, Espanha

Um dia nublado e a prometer chuva impediu-nos de estender a toalha na praia mas libertou a “agenda” para um passeio. A viagem durou uma hora e meia desde Platja D’Aro, valeu cada minuto e quilómetro porque é outro daqueles lugares que parou no tempo, sem a epidemia da grande construção á volta de uma praia, com todas as casas pintadas de branco entre o verde da serra e o azul do mar.
An cloudy with a promise to rain day prevented us from putting our towel on the beach but released the “agenda” for a short trip. It lasted an hour and a half from Platja D’Aro, it was worth every minute and kilometer because it is another one of those places that stopped in time without the epidemic of major construction around a beach, with all the houses painted in white between the green hills and the blue sea.

Calella de Palafrugell, Espanha

Quando visitámos pela segunda vez Calella de Palafrugell ficámos a pensar que este seria um bom sitio para passar férias longe da agitação que tem Platja D’Aro com as suas animadas ruas de bares e restaurantes. Só teria um senão mas que acaba por ser o motivo porque é tão tranquilo, a sua menor variedade na oferta hoteleira.
Calella continua a preservar a sua identidade pesqueira, resistente ao turismo dos grandes hóteis que inundam as praias de gente.
When we visited for the second time Calella de Palafrugell we were thinking that this would be a good place to spend a holiday away from the hustle that is Platja D’Aro with its lively streets of bars and restaurants.  It only had one catch but it turns out to be the reason why it is so quiet, its less variety in hotel offers.
Calella continues to preserve its identity of a fishing village, resistant to the major tourist hotels that flood the beaches of people.

La Vela – Palafrugell, Espanha

Depois de uma produtiva manhã (e inicio de tarde) na praia, o nosso corpo já pedia comida e começámos a andar pelo centro de Calella á procura de um restaurante que nos agradasse. Alguns tinham menus do dia, encontrámos um com tapas mas pouco relacionadas com o mar e não sei como optámos por ficar no La Vela, sei que uma das coisas que pesou na nossa decisão foi o facto de ir com crianças e ter que garantir que havia algo na carta que pudessem comer.
After a productive morning (and early afternoon) on the beach, our body was asking for food and we started walking through the center of Calella looking for a restaurant that we liked. Some had menus of the day, we found one with tapas but little related to the sea and I can’t explain why we chose to stay at La Vela, I know one of the things that weighed in our decision was the fact that we were with our children and had to ensure that there something in the menu that they could eat.
