do: LE PETIT BISTROT – MADRID, ESPANHA

I ended up regretting as it is the only negative thing. I remember seating outside in a Paris café or bistro and it was much more confortable, with those typical rattan chairs but no, it looked like the chairs and tables from any typical bar. I guess I was expecting something charming to match the interior.
I wanted to try half the menu (that is good right?). I order the “Costrón de queso de Cabra caliente con miel” (Goat cheese with crunchy bacon and honey) it is a combination that never fails.
Then I decided to forget about my diet and taste a crêpe of spanish inspiration – the Burgos. To cut calories and eat “chistorra” (a sort of chorizo) and the “morcilla” without any regrets, I decided to eat the crêpe with a whole wheat flour. It was an excelent choice because the crêpe was great.

In the menu they have a “café gourmand” but instead of coffee I asked for some tea (“poleo-menta). According to Wikipedia, a gourmand is someone that takes a great pleasure in food and in other times it was a fancy word for gluttony but today it is used for those who appreciate good food and drink.
If you ask this at Le Petit Bistrot the gourmand part is not a small cumplimentary chocolate, no you well get a taste of some of their desserts like: chocolate cake, crêpe with caramel and a custard tart.

This one opened the appetite to try the other one with the brunch.

Located in the Square 18th of June 1940, very close to the hotel where we stayed (Best Western Aramis) and was the perfect place to eat without walking to much after a rewarding but exhausting day of sightseeing.
And also we were looking for a café to eat something simple, a salad or something because with so many days of “road trip” often eating along the way or trying all sorts of culinary delights, we wanted something more light.
