Esta rua liga duas importantes praças de Estrasburgo, a Gutenberg e a Kléber, esta última é a maior da cidade e onde está localizado um dos mais importantes edificios, o Aubette.
Esta é a rua onde encontramos as marcas mais comerciais como a Sephora, a Oysho, a Promod, a adidas, a Morgan entre outras.

This road connects two important squares in Strasbourg, Gutenberg and Kléber, the latter is the largest in the city and where it is located one of the most important buildings, the Aubette.
This is the street where we found the most commercial brands such as Sephora, the Oysho, Promod, adidas, Morgan among others.

Apresenta uma mistura do estilo arquitectónico que caracteriza a região e um outro mais comum por toda a França de edificios simples com arcadas no piso térreo. Fomos num dia em que as lojas estavam fechadas perdendo o reboliço desses dias, a rua é bastante larga mas não é dificil imaginá-la cheia de gente com sacos de compras nas mãos.
 
It features a mix of architectural style that characterizes the region and another more common throughout France for simple buildings with arcades on the ground floor. We went on a day when the shops were closed losing the commotion of the busy days, the street is quite wide but it is not hard to imagine it full of people with shopping bags in hand.

 

 
São também de visitar as pequenas ruas que desembocam na Grandes Arcades, por elas encontramos outro tipo de loja das que não existe em mais nenhum lugar ou um pequeno “bistrot” ou “patisserie”.
E não podia faltar o toque colorido das flores que vemos por todos os lados da cidade mas que aqui se juntam para pedir que as levem para casa. 
 
It’s also worth visiting the small streets that lead to the Grandes Arcades, for in them you might found another type of store that does not exist anywhere else or a small “bistro” or “patisserie”.
And it could not miss the touch of colorful flowers we see everywhere in town but here they come together to ask to bring them home.
 

É quase impossível visitar Estrasburgo sem passar nesta rua, talvez menos charmosa que outras da cidade mas de vital importância para ligar duas praças dedicadas a dois homens marcantes da sua história: Gutenberg e Kléber (Jean-Baptiste Kléber que nasceu na cidade e foi o comandante das forças militares de Napoleão no Egipto). 
 
It’s almost impossible to visit Strasbourg without passing by this street, perhaps less charming than others in town but vital connecting two squares dedicated to two striking men in its history: Gutenberg and Kléber (Jean–Baptiste Kléber was born in the city and was the commander military forces of Napoleon in Egypt).

Para nós, um dos grandes encantos de Estrasburgo é a zona junto ao Rio Ill. No seguimento da Quai des Bateliers, a Quai St-Nicolas é uma das mais notáveis da cidade com os seus prédios antigos, alguns garantem vista para o rio desde o século XVI.
Mantendo o seu cunho medieval como quem pede para o tempo não avançar, a zona da Quai de St. Nicolas vive do comércio e da restauração e é fácil imaginarmos todos os dias a passar por aqui deslumbrados como se fosse a primeira vez. 
 
For us, one of the great charms of Strasbourg is the area along the river Ill. Following the Quai des Bateliers, the Quai St-Nicolas is one of the most remarkable in the city with its ancient buildings, some guarantee a view to the river since the sixteenth century.
Keeping it’s medieval mark like someone that ask time to stand still, the area of Quai de St. Nicolas lives of trade and restaurants and it’s easy to imagine coming here everyday and be dazzled as if for the first time.

A essência da cultura da Alsácia está bem presente nesta rua e talvez por isso seja justo colocar aqui o Musée Alsacien. No seu interior várias peças sejam decorativas ou de uso diário, ligadas ao mundo rural e á região.  
É daqueles museus cheios de charme em que cada pequeno objecto conta uma história, uma forma de viver. 
 
The essence of the Alsace culture is very present in this street and maybe it’s only fair to put here the Musée Alsacien. Inside there are several decorative pieces or of everyday use, linked to rural areas and to the region.
It is those museums full of charm where each small object tells a story, a way of living.

Seguimos pela a rua até cruzarmos a ponte que liga á Rue de la Division Leclerc. As flores dão mais um toque de cor á cidade e o moderno eléctrico contrasta com o entorno antigo.
É uma rua excelente para um passeio.
 
We stayed in the Street until we crossed  the bridge that connects to the Rue de la Division Leclerc. The flowers give a touch of color to the city and the modern electrical contrasts with the surrounding old.
It’s a great street for a stroll.

Quando chegámos a Estrasburgo estacionámos o carro nesta praça, o nosso principal objectivo era visitar a Catedral mas a verdade é que acabámos por ficar um pouco mais a conhecê-la.
Ao centro a estátua do homem que dá o nome á praça: Johannes Gutenberg. Nascido na Alemanha, ele foi o inventor da prensa móvel e foi o mote da Revolução da Imprensa, estávamos no século XV em que uma cópia do livro era feita á mão e o prazo de entrega era: eternidade. Com a sua invenção tornou-se mais fácil fazer cópias de livros e imprimir boletins informativos, começa a era da informação.
Quando se muda para Estrasburgo começa a produzir uma cópia da Biblia, na altura demorou 5 anos a fazer e tirou o emprego aos monges.
 
When we arrived in Strasbourg we parked the car in this square, our main objective was to visit the Cathedral but the truth is that we ended up staying a little longer to know it.
At the center the statue of the man who gives the name to the square: Johannes Gutenberg. Born in Germany, he was the inventor of the printing press and  was the motto for the Revolution of the Press, we were in the fifteenth century in which a copy of the book was done by hand and it was delivery time: eternity. With his invention  it became easier to make copies of books and print newsletters, the information era begins.
When moving to Strasbourg he begins producing a copy of the Bible, that time it took 5 years to make and the monks were out of a job.

Fomos na época da Páscoa e havia do pequeno mercado com decorações alusivas a época e os tradicionais ovos de chocolate, para além de alguns divertimentos para crianças como um carousel.
Um dos edificios mais importantes da praça é o da Câmara de Comércio e Indústria de Estrasburgo. Antes de ser a sede para Câmara de Comércio funcionava como Câmara Municipal tornando-a praça num dos locais mais importantes da cidade. O seu estilo arquitectónico deriva do renascentismo alemão.
Também da praça começamos a ver a Catedral já que a Rue Merciere sai da Place Gutenberg até á praça onde está fica este importante monumento de Estrasburgo. 
 
We went at Easter time and there was a market with small decorations alluding season and the traditional chocolate eggs, plus some amusements for children like a carousel.
One of the most important buildings of the square is the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Strasbourg. Before being the headquarters for the Chamber of Commerce it was the Town Hall making this square one of the most important places of the city. Its architectural style is derived from the German Renaissance.
Also from the square we can see the Cathedral as the Rue Merciere comes out of the Place Gutenberg until the square where it’s located this important monument of Strasbourg.

Parlamento Europeu – Estrasburgo, França

Com frequência ouvimos notícias sobre o Parlamento Europeu e as decisões que ali são tomadas, por isso uma ida a Estrasburgo supõe para além da visita á Catedral uma passagem pelo local onde construiram um complexo de edificios onde para além do Parlamento está também o Palácio dos Direitos do Homem.
Often we hear news about the European Parliament and the decisions that are made there, so a trip to Strasbourg supposed beyond the visit to the Cathedral by a passage where a complex of buildings built beyond where Parliament is also the Palace of Rights Human.

Catedral de Nossa Senhora – Estrasburgo, França

Nem consigo contar as voltas que dei para tentar fotografar a fachada desta Catedral, outrora o edificio mais alto do mundo e cuja torre tem cerca de 142 metros de altura. A largura da praça onde está também não permite ganhar mais distância para o fazer mas a verdade é que só da Praça de Gutenberg (pela Rue Merciére) consegui uma aproximação.
Objectivos fotográficos á parte, a verdade é que esta catedral impressiona não só pela sua dimensão como por todo o detalhe e trabalho colocado na sua impressionante fachada de estilo Gótico.
 
I can not even count the turns I gave to try to photograph the facade of this cathedral, once the world’s tallest building whose tower is about 142 meters tall. The width of the square where it is also does not allow to gain more distance to do so but the truth is that only from the Gutenberg square (along Rue Merciere) I was able to get it.
Photographic objectives aside, the truth is that this cathedral is impressive not only for its size as for all the detail and work put in its stunning Gothic facade.

Na rua dos ourives podemos encontrar hoje em dia uma diversidade de lojas diferentes das que lhe dão o nome. É mais uma das que podemos juntar á lista das com mais charme de Estrasburgo, que vai desde o templo novo até junto á Praça da Catedral.
Estreita e sem acesso a carros é um local priveligiado para fazer compras e não só mas todas têm uma oferta de luxo desde a joalheria e bijuteria passando pelas chocolaterias como a Weiss.
 
On the street of goldsmiths we can find nowadays a different variety of stores from the ones that give it’s name. It’s one that we can add to the list of the most charming of Strasbourg, going from the new temple again to the Cathedral Square.
Narrow and without access to cars its a privileged place for shopping and all have an offer from luxury jewelery passing to chocolatiers like Weiss.

Aqui também encontrámos um “patisserie” e um restaurante com mesinhas na rua que fazia lembrar as “trattorias” em Roma, mas acabámos por almoçar no Au Sanglier por uma questão de orçamento.
 
Here we also found a “patisserie“ and a restaurant with tables on the street that reminded us of the “trattorias“ in Rome, but we ended up having lunch at Au Sanglier because of Budget issues.

É dificil explicar porque é que escolhemos o Au Sanglier para almoçar em Estrasburgo. Tínhamos passado por vários restaurantes, todos com óptimo aspecto e com pratos com nomes tão complicados que pareciam ser o último grito em culinária. Talvez tenha sido a simplicidade e o preço que nos fez optar por este.
Fica na Rue du Sanglier (Javali) e ao entrar sentimos como se estivéssemos em casa de alguém conhecido. O restaurante é muito acolhedor, uma zona junto ás janelas tem luz natural e outra com menos iluminação acaba por ter um toque muito romântico, por outro lado não se vê tão bem a comida (o que pode ser uma estratégia).
It’s hard to explain why we chose Au Sanglier to have lunch in Strasbourg. We had passed by several restaurants all looking great and dishes with names so complicated that seemed to be the ultimate in cooking. Perhaps it was the simplicity and price that made us choose this.
It is located on Rue du Sanglier (Boar) and getting in you feel like at the house of someone you know. The restaurant is very cozy, with a zone close to the windows with natural light and other with less light that turns out to have a very romantic touch, on the other hand one can’t see the food very well (which can be a strategy).

A Rue du Marroquin é uma animada rua no centro de Estrasburgo que vai desde as margens do Rio Ill até á Praça da Catedral. O percurso é estreito e pitoresco, com as já famosas casas de estilo alsaciano, restaurantes atractivos e lojas de “souvenirs”.
Os restaurantes típicos convidam a entrar, com as suas esplanadas na rua e as suas fachadas que pararam no tempo, servem aos seus clientes as iguarias da região, como o famoso “choucroute” mas também se pode provar a famosa sopa de cebola francesa.


The Rue du Marroquin is a busy street in central Strasbourg stretching from the banks of the Ill river until the Cathedral Square. The path is narrow and picturesque, with the already famous Alsatian style houses, restaurants and attractive souvenir shops.
The typical restaurants invite you to come with its terraces in the street and their façades have stopped in time,they serve customers with delicacies of the region, such as the famous “choucroute“ and you can taste the famous French onion soup.

Uma dessas lojas que se destaca é a Kelsch, primeiro pelo bonito edificio onde está localizada e depois pela sua montra que faz qualquer um esquecer a dieta. Nela podemos comprar doces da região e outros mais tradicionais de França e da Alemanha. Entre eles está o Kouglof, um bolo alto tipo brioche cozinhado numa forma especial e o famoso Pretzel.
One of those shops that stands out is the Kelsch, first by the beautiful building where it is located and then by his storefront that makes anyone forget the diet. Here we can buy candy and other more traditional region of France and Germany. Among them is the Kouglof, a high type brioche cake cooked in a special way and the famous Pretzel.
 
 
O restaurante Le Gruber ocupa um bonito edificio de esquina com as varandas pintadas e uma excelente esplanada. Toda a rua e o seu ambiente convidam a ficar muito mais tempo que na realidade gastamos a percorrê-la.
 
The restaurant Le Gruber occupies a beautiful corner building with balconies painted and a great terrace. Everything in this street and it’s environment invite you to stay longer tan the time we spend walking through it.

Rue du Vieux Marche Aus Poissons – Estrasburgo, França

Junto á Praça Gutenberg está uma animada rua de comércio, a Rue du Vieux Marche aux Poissons (Velho Mercado do Peixe) que termina na margem do Rio Ill.
Mais do que as montras das lojas o que realmente enche o olho é a arquitectura alsaciana dos edificios da rua, mas se o objectivo é mesmo compras não faltam propostas interessantes como a Ventilo, a Kenzo, a Comptoir des Cotonniers e a Petit Bateau, grande parte são marcas francesas mas aqui também encontramos uma Adolfo Dominguez por exemplo.
Near the square Gutenberg is a lively shopping street, the Rue du Vieux Marche aux Poissons (Old Fish Market) ending on the river Ill.
More than the shop windows which really fills the eye is the Alsatian architecture of the buildings from the street, but if the goal is really shopping there are very interesting like Ventilo, the Kenzo, the Comptoir des Cotonniers and Petit Bateau, largely French brands but here we also find a Adolfo Dominguez for example.
