Tinha muita vontade de ver Berlim desde o alto da sua torre da televisão, houve sorte com o tempo e foi possível ter uma vista 360º da capital. Construída na década de 60 é um símbolo da antiga RDA de ocupação soviética e o edificio mais alto do país com os seus 368 metros de altura (porque a antena também conta), a plataforma á qual subimos para ver a cidade está a uns 200 metros de altura e vale mesmo a pena ir.

I really wanted to see Berlin from the top of its television tower, we were lucky with the weather and it was possible to have a 360º view of the capital. Built in the 60s is a symbol of the former GDR of Soviet occupation and the tallest building in the country with its 368-meter (because the antenna also counts), the platform which went up to see the city is about 200 meters high and is really worth going.

O Rathaus parece de brincar e finalmente conseguimos ver onde era a Alexanderplatz que ainda não tínhamos dado com ela, deu também para entender o tamanho do Tiergarten e da Unter den Linden. Dá-nos perspectiva de por onde passa o rio e conseguimos ver a ilha dos Museus para além da Catedral chegando á famosa cúpula de cristal do Reischtag. Tem uma história curiosa a que chamam a Vingança do Papa, reza a lenda que os soviéticos tinham retirado todos os símbolos da religião cristã no seu lado de Berlim, as cruzes desapareceram dos monumentos mas uma apareceu com muita força e é a que o efeito do sol cria na grande esfera da torre, coincidência…ou talvez não.

The Rathaus seems to be something to play and finally we got to see where was the Alexanderplatz that we couldn’t find, we could also to understand the size of the Tiergarten and Unter den Linden. It gives us perspective through which the river and we could see the island of Museums beyond the Cathedral untill the Reischtag and it’s famous crystal dome. Has a curious history they call the Revenge of the Pope, legend has it that the Soviets had removed all the symbols of the Christian religion on its side of Berlin, crosses disappeared from monuments but one appeared strong and is  the effect that the sun creates on the big sphere of the tower, coincidence … or maybe not.

Tem um restaurante por cima da plataforma, é panorâmico e vai girando de hora em hora. Recomendo para subir á torre que se reserve online, vimos uma fila impressionante á porta e senti-me uma sortuda de não ter que estar ali á espera, normalmente os bilhetes têm uma hora marcada e ajuda a controlar o número de pessoas que entra.

It has a restaurant on top of the platform it is wide and goes round each hour. Recommend to climb the tower that book online, we saw an impressive queue at the door and felt a lucky not to have to be there waiting, normally the tickets have an appointment and helps control the number of people entering.
