Perto do Rio Manzanares e junto ao Palácio Real, estão os jardins do Campo del Moro. Só tem uma entrada e faz-se pelo Paseo Virgen del Puerto, por ser mais a sul e fora do circuito mais turístico acaba por ser menos visitado. É por isso, uma excelente alternativa ao Retiro quando queremos um jardim mais tranquilo para passear. Para explicar o porquê de Campo del Moro, é preciso recuar uns bons séculos na história e onde hoje está o palácio real imaginar as muralhas que fortificavam Madrid. Nesta zona onde está o jardim estava um acampamento mouro que queria conquistar a cidade no século XII, daí o seu nome.
Close to the Manzanares River and next to the Royal Palace, there are the gardens of Campo del Moro. It only has an entrance and it is made by the Paseo Virgen del Puerto, being further south and outside the most touristic circuit turns out to be less visited. This is why it is an excellent alternative to the Retiro when we want a more tranquil garden to stroll. To explain why Campo del Moro exists, we must go back a few centuries in history and where today is the royal palace imagine the walls that fortified Madrid. In this area where the garden stands was a Moorish camp that wanted to conquer the city in the 12th century, hence its name.
Ao centro do jardim está a fonte Las Conchas e olhando para os seus pormenores percebemos o porquê do nome.Com uma grande variedade de árvores, muitas de copa alta o que significa bons passeios á sombra quando estamos com temperaturas mais quentes. Por outro lado tem partes relvadas, que agora no Inverno e em dias de sol, convidam muitos a deitarem-se acompanhados de um livro ou simplesmente á conversa com amigos. Os vários “paseos” estão devidamente assinalados com placas e no final do Paseo de Los Civiles encontrei o Chalet del Corcho.
In the center of the garden is the fountain Las Conchas and looking at its details we realize the reason of the name. With a great variety of trees, many of high trees which means good walks in the shade when we are in warmer temperatures. On the other hand there are grassy parts, which now in the winter and on sunny days, invite many to lie down with a book or simply to talk with friends. The various “paseos” are properly marked with signs and at the end of the Paseo de los Civiles I found the Chalet del Corcho.
A Rainha Isabel II, não tinha ainda este título quando se mandou construir o jardim, estávamos no século XIX. Mas foi o seu regente que pediu a sua construção, que foi sendo interrompida com os tumultos na monarquia que levaram ao exílio da Rainha.
Queen Elizabeth II did not have this title yet when the garden was built, it was in the nineteenth century. But it was his regent that asked for its construction, which was being interrupted with the riots in the monarchy that led to the Queen’s exile.
Junto á estátua estava um pequeno lago que tinha um único pato e sei que também haviam pavões no jardim mas eu não encontrei nenhum.
Next to the statue was a small lake with a single duck, and I know there were peacocks in the garden, but I found none.
E para quem gosta de fotografar natureza recomendo sem dúvida este jardim, tem de tudo um pouco.
