Fomos ao Chelsea Potter sem saber que era um desses pubs londrinos cheios de história. Foi construído em 1842 e o seu nome original era Commercial Tavern mas dizem que o seu nome mudou em honra da Chelsea Arts Pottery. Chamou-nos a atenção a sua esplanada cheia de gente e decidimos entrar porque já não havia mesa fora. Uma vez dentro o seu balcão mantém um traçado original e a zona de mesas é bastante ampla com bancos e sofás de estampado de xadrez.

We went to Chelsea Potter without knowing it was one of those London pubs full of history. It was built in 1842 and its original name was Commercial Tavern but it is said to have changed its name in honor of the Chelsea Arts Pottery. We were struck by its crowded terrace and decided to go in because there was no table outside anymore. Once inside your desk retains an original layout and the table area is quite wide with checkerboard benches and sofas.

Dizem que o seu auge foi durante as décadas de 60 e 70 e que tiveram muitos frequentadores ilustres como por exemplo o Mick Jagger e Keith Richards, mas também Jimi Hendricks provou uma cerveja do Chelsea Potter. Entrámos para jantar e ver um jogo de futebol, algo de muito tipico num pub e na realidade esperava um pouco mais, a sua carta é igual a de outros pubs (literalmente igual). Pedimos um combo com Shepperd’s pie e hamburguer e foi uma pequena desilusão. Vale a pena ir pela história e pela cerveja não muito mais.

It is said to have peaked during the 1960s and 1970s and had many distinguished clients such as Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, but also Jimi Hendricks tasted a Chelsea Potter beer. We went to have dinner and see a football match, something very typical in a pub and actually expected a little more, your card is the same as in other pubs (literally the same). We ordered a combo with Shepperd’s pie and burger and it was a little disappointment. It’s worth going for history and beer not much else.
