É verdade que o Frankfurt á primeira vista parece um daqueles restaurantes que te serve uns pratos combinados de qualidade duvidosa mas as aparências enganam. Foi na realidade o restaurante mais caro a que fomos e sim a ementa fala em pratos combinados mas a qualidade é bastante boa, é só mais uma das contradições de um restaurante com nome de salsichas alemãs com réplicas de quadros do pintor colombiano Fernando Botero.
 
It is true that at first sight Frankfurt seems one of those restaurants that serves you  combined dishes (“platos combinados”) of doubtful quality but appearances can be deceiving. It was actually the most expensive restaurant we went and it’s true the menu speaks about those combined dishes but the quality is quite good, it’s just one of the contradictions of a restaurant with the name of German sausages and with replicas of paintings by Colombian artist Fernando Botero. 

A decoração era no minimo estranha com um especial fetiche por gordinhos talvez para te indicar que aquí a comida é boa e para esquecer da dieta. Começámos por umas “rabas” (é assim o nome) de choco frito que gosto de comer com um pouco de maionese, estavam tenras e a fritura estaladiça. Depois pedimos o entrecote e tenho que admitir que gostei mais do Grajos, era mais saboroso mas estava também era bom. A seguir uma “tarta” de queijo que estava óptima e um crepe recheado com leite condensado que estava bom mas que para o preço que te cobram pareceu-me escasso.
Gostei da refeição mas não foi o meu favorito da zona e se considero que foi o mais caro não sei se repetiria. O atendimento foi impecável.
 
The decor was strange to say the least with a particular fetish for chubby characters perhaps to indicate that the food here is good and you should forget the diet. We started with “rabas“ (that’s the name) of fried cuttlefish that I like to eat with a little mayonnaise, they were tender and crispy frying. Then we ordered the entrecote and have to admit that I enjoyed more the one from Grajos it was tastier although this one was also good. For dessert a “tarta“ of cheese (like a cheesecake) which was great and a stuffed crepe with condensed milk (fudge) which was good but for the price they charge you it seemed scarce.
I enjoyed the meal but it was not my favorite place and if I take into consideration that it was the most expensive  I do not know if I would repeat it. The service was impeccable. .

O Grajos foi o primeiro restaurante ao qual batemos á porta no dia que chegámos ao Formigal, famintos e que nos fez ir ao Soul Café porque a cozinha só abria ás 20h30. É uma das coisas que gosto de umas férias na neve é o ambiente informal de muitos dos seus restaurantes, afinal vais para petiscar e conversar sobre os grandes feitos na pista, o Grajos encaixa nesse perfil descontraído, mas sem descuidar da qualidade da sua comida.
 
Grajos was the first restaurant we went on the day that we arrived at Formigal, hungry, and that made us go to Soul Café because the kitchen only opened at 20.30. It’s one of the things I like in a snow vacation the informal setting of many of its restaurants, you go to snack and talk about the great deeds you did on the track, the Grajos fit into that relaxed profile, but without neglecting the quality of its food.

Foi o melhor entrecote que comemos no Formigal e que vontade tinha de comer um bom pedaço de carne, felizmente o Grajos não me decepcionou. Carne tenra e saborosa, se tivesse que apontar algo seria os acompanhamentos…poderiam adicionar algo mais que as batatas fritas, talvez uns legumes salteados ou uma salada. Provei a pizza e estava muito boa, devo confessar que a primeira vez que olhei para ela parecia ser das de supermercado mas foi das melhores que comemos na zona.
A sobremesa foi um crepe recheado com leite condensado que estava delicioso, acredito que seja difícil fazer com que estes dois elementos juntos não sejam saborosos.
 
The “entrecote” was the best we ate in Formigal and I really needed to eat a good piece of meat, fortunately Grajos did not disappoint me. Tender and tasty meat, if I had to point out something … would that they could have added something more than the fries, maybe a salad or sautéed vegetables. I tasted the pizza  it was very good, I must confess that the first time I looked at it seemed to be from the supermarket but it was the best we ate in the area.
The dessert was a stuffed crepe with condensed milk (or fudge) which was delicious, I believe it is difficult to make these two elements together and don’t make it tasty.

Na nossa lista de bares recomendados no Formigal estava o Salzburgo muito próximo da praça do relógio. Não é muito grande e não tinha muitas mesas ainda assim conseguimos aconchegar-nos num cantinho do bar e pedir dois pratos com salsicha, que parece ser a sua especialidade. Eu decidi ir por outra via e pedi um prato de gyros de frango em pão de pita.
 
In our list of recommended bars in Formigal was very close to the clock square Salzburg. It is not very big and did not have many tables but we could still snuggle up in a corner of the bar and ordered two dishes with sausage, which seems to be their specialty. I decided to go another route and ordered a plate of chicken gyros in pita bread.

 Achei estranho estar na ementa não é um prato muito austríaco mas estava bom, uma pena que o pão de pita estava um pouco mais mole que o habitual mas foi bom para matar saudades da comida grega. A salsicha segundo o marido não era excepcional mas o que realmente gostámos foi de um bolo de chocolate que procurava replicar a “Sachertorte” (uma especialidade austríaca de um hotel de cinco estrelas de Viena – o Sacher). No final ficou a uns 10€ por pessoa.
 
I found it strange to be on the menu is not a very Austrian dish but it was a pity that the pita bread was a little softer than usual but it was nice to relive memories of Greek food. The sausages according to the husband was not exceptional but what we really loved was a chocolate cake that does that tried to replicate the “Sachertorte“ (an Austrian specialty of a five star hotel in Vienna – the Sacher). In the end it was about 10 € per person.

Foi o nosso primeiro jantar no Formigal, foi no Dia de Reis e tínhamos receio de não encontrar nenhum restaurante aberto. Fomos primeiro ao Grajos mas a cozinha só abria ás 20h30 e nós estávamos com fome depois da viagem, de lá recomendaram-nos até ao Soul Café e a palavra Fondue ficou na nossa cabeça.  Decidimos experimentar.
 
It was our first dinner in Formigal, King’s Day and we were afraid of not finding any restaurant open. We went first to the Grajos but the kitchen only opened at 20:30 and we were hungry after the trip, from there recommended us to the Soul Café and Fondue was a word that got stuck in our head. We decided to try.

Estava vazio quando chegámos e cheio quando partimos. Pedimos o Fondue de queijo para dois que acompanha com pickles, salsicha, batatas fritas e taquitos de pão. O queijo não era muito intenso o que para nós foi boa noticia, os restantes ingredientes estavam óptimos e foi uma agradável surpresa. Para o nosso filho pedimos um hamburguer que tivémos que o ajudar a comer, a qualidade da carne era óptima e nem precisava de molhos. Já não houve espaço para sobremesa.
O preço do fondue foi 10€ por pessoa.
 
It was empty when we arrived and full when we left. We ordered the cheese fondue for two that comes with pickles, sausage, chips and bread. The cheese was not too heavy for us which was good news, the remaining ingredients were great and it was a pleasant surprise. For our son we ordered a burger that we had to help him eat, meat quality was very good and no sauces were needed. We didn’t have room for dessert.
The price of fondue was 10€ per person.

Para dormir no Formigal escolhemos o HG Alto Aragón, depois de analizar várias opções incluindo apartamentos optámos por este. Tem uma relação qualidade/preço que nos pareceu razoável, ficou perto de 140€ por noite um quarto para dois adultos e duas crianças com o pequeno-almoço incluido.
O outro atractivo foram alguns dos serviços que ofereciam que não usufruimos de todos mas dois deles sim: o mini-club para crianças e a piscina coberta.
 
To sleep in Formigal we chose the HG Alto Aragón, after analyzing various options including apartments we opted for this one. Has a quality / price that seemed reasonable to us, was close to 140 € per night a room for two adults and two children with breakfast included.
Another atracttive were some of the services offered that we were not able to enjoy all but two of them we used: the mini-club for children and indoor pool.

O quarto era espaçoso e confortável para o número de pessoas que levava. A recepção foi feita sem problema e os pequenos-almoços eram bons, iam variando a parte dos bolos para não se tornarem enjoativos mas tinham sempre fruta, torradas, zona de quentes com ovos mexidos, bacon, panquecas e podiam fazer na hora também. Aproveitámos uma noite a comida do snack bar porque já não queríamos ir jantar fora e comemos bem, tem uma boa salada de queijo de cabra e a Club Sándwich a pesar de boa não era de tamanho reduzido.
O mini-club para as crianças foi uma das coisas que o nosso filho mais velho mais gostou, achávamos que depois de um dia de ski estaria cansado mas ele queria brincar ainda mais assim que ia muito contente para o clube, deixando-nos tempo livre para organizar-nos antes de sair para jantar.
A piscina interior é pequena e a dada altura ficava muito cheia, deviam talvez limitar o número de entradas e estabelecer algumas regras já que adultos e crianças mergulhavam de qualquer maneira incomodando os demais.
Fica na zona mais alta da urbanização do Formigal o que nos obrigou a utilizar o carro para ir ao centro comer e para ir ás pistas, havia demasiada confusão com as carrinhas do hotel (que eram pequenas) e para ir jantar a última carrinha voltava ás 21h30 o que não deixava margem para regressar.
É um bom hotel com coisas a melhorar mas certamente voltaríamos a ficar aqui hospedados.
 
The room was spacious and comfortable for the number of people carrying . The reception was made without trouble and the breakfasts were good , ranging the part of cakes to avoid being repetitive but always had fruit , toast, hot zone with scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes and could do at the time too. We had dinner in their snack bar because we didn’t want to go out and we did eat well , have a good salad of goat cheese and the club sandwich though was good was a bit small for the price.The mini-club for children was one of the things that our oldest son liked best , we thought after a day of skiing he would be tired but he wanted to play even more so was delighted for the club , leaving us free time to organize ourselves before heading out to dinner.The indoor pool is small and at some point was very crowded , maybe they should limit the number of entries and establish some rules as adults and children plunged anyway bothering others.Is in the highest part of the urbanization of Formigal which forced us to use the car to go downtown to eat and going to the ski resort, there was too much confusion with the vans from the hotel (they were small ) and to go to dinner the last van returned at 21:30 leaving little room actually.It is a good hotel with things to improve but would certainly return to stay here hosted .

Há quatro anos que não fazíamos férias na neve e decidimos começar o 2014 aqui no Formigal, uma estância com bastantes quilómetros de pistas e que fica a menos de cinco horas de carro de Madrid. Está dividida em vários sectores sendo que os principais são Sextas, Sarrios e Anayet, este último foi onde estivémos sempre por dois motivos: o jardim de infância para o mais pequeno e as aulas de todos. Mas como em todas as estâncias, dali podíamos ir a Portalet, Izas, Sarrios e Cantal.
It has been four years since we did a ski holiday and we decided to start 2014 here in Formigal, a resort with many kilometers of slopes and less tan a five hours drive from Madrid. It is divided into several sectors and the main ones are Sextas, Sarrios and Anayet, where the latter was were we stayed most of our time for two reasons: the kindergarden for the baby and the classes for all of us. But as in all ski resorts, we could go from there to Portalet, Izas, Sarrios and Cantal.
