A sua primeira construção é do século X e era um castelo rodeado de água, seis mais tarde foi ampliado ao estilo do Renascimento que se nota melhor no seu interior. É realmente sorpreendente quando estás fora e vais entrando descobrindo o seu bonito pátio onde se destaca a estátua de Everardo I de Württemberg a cavalo.

Its first building is from the tenth century and was a castle surrounded by water, six ccenturies later it was expanded to the Renaissance style that is best noted inside. It is really amazing when you see it from the outside and has you go in you discover its beautiful courtyard where the statue of Everardo I of Württemberg on horseback stands today.

No seu interior funciona o Landesmuseum Württemberg e na ala sudoeste está a capela do palácio a primeira a ser dedicada aos Protestantes. No castelo está enterrado um dos últimos reis da Casa Real de Württemberg – Karl I – que morreu sem deixar filhos e foi sucedido por Guillerme II (o último rei). Visitar o castelo e o seu museu é grátis.

Inside is the Landesmuseum Württemberg and in the southwest wing is the palace chapel the first to be dedicated to Protestants. In the castle is buried one of the last kings of the Royal House of Württemberg – Karl I – who died childless and was succeeded by Guillerme II (the last king). Visiting the castle and its museum is free.
