Preparando a viagem a Aveiro fiz uma lista de sitios para comer dos mais típicos ao mais modernos e o Armazém da Alfândega estava no último grupo. Pensei que pela carta que tinham podia ser arriscado para viajeiros com crianças mas acabou por ser uma boa aposta. Inserido no hotel Histórias por Metro Quadrado e num antigo armazém da alfândega em plena zona do Rossio de Aveiro, o restaurante mantém-se fiel ao produto da região com formatos mais modernos ou internacionais.

Preparing the trip to Aveiro I made a list of places to eat from the most typical to the most modern and the Armazém da Alfândega (Warehouse of Customs) was in the last group. I thought the letter they had might be risky for traveling with kids but it turned out to be a good bet. Inserted in the hotel Stories by Metro Square and in a former customs warehouse in the Rossio area of Aveiro, the restaurant remains faithful to the product of the region with more modern or international formats.

Tem também pratos do dia e quando fomos era Frango no Churrasco e peixe do dia no entanto a carta tinha mais apelo e começámos por pedir um Ceviche que esta bom mas lhe faltou um pouco mais de audácia com o picante. Para os mais pequenos pedimos um hamburger e baos de leitão, a grande estrela do dia. Pele estaladiça, carne suculenta e um pão chinês que junta tudo, é motivo de nova visita e repetição. Indecisos com o ultimo prato a escolher recomendaram-nos o arroz de bacalhau, de barriga cheia já não o acolhemos como se merecia e os seus sabores intensos chocaram com os anteriores. Por último uma Pavlova, saborosa mas um tanto ao quanto rompe dentes. Nota especial também para o atendimento, ao principio não “encaixámos” bem mas ao longo da refeição foi a crescendo terminando com uma sensação de que foram impecáveis. Saímos contentes com a descoberta.

There are also a daily menu and when we went it was Chicken in the Churrasco and fish of the day however the menu had more appeal and we started by ordering a ceviche which is good but lacked a bit more audacity with the spicy. For the little ones we ordered a hamburger and suckling pig bao, the big star of the day. Crunchy skin, juicy meat and a Chinese bread that puts everything together is a reason to visit again and repeat. Undecided with the last dish to choose, they recommended us the cod rice, with full belly no longer welcome as deserved and their intense flavors shocked the previous ones. Finally a Pavlova, tasty but somewhat as it breaks teeth. Special note also for the attendance, at first we did not “fit” well but over the course of the meal it was a crescendo ending with a feeling that they were clean. We were happy with the discovery.
