Chegámos a Londres utilizando o comboio que conecta o aeroporto e a estação de Paddington, dali foi uma caminhada tranquila até ao nosso hotel ou pelo menos ao que pensávamos que era o nosso e tivémos que ir bater á porta correcta: o Hotel Park Grand London Paddington.
We arrived in London using the train that connects the airport to the Paddington station, from there it was an easy 10 minute walk to our hotel or at least the one we thought was ours and then we had to go knock at the right door: the Park Grand London Paddington Hotel .

Deixámos as malas e fomos procurar um sitio para comer, queríamos começar a entrar na cultura de pubs londrina e perto do hotel estava o Pride of Paddington. O dia estava agradável e acabámos por comer na esplanada. Pedimos uma Shepperd Pie e o famoso Fish n’ Chips, foi a primeira amostra da comida de pubs inglesa que não surpreendeu mas ajudou a aconchegar o estômago para o resto do dia.
We left our bags and went to find a place to eat, we wanted to start getting into the pubs culture in London and near the hotel was the Pride of Paddington. The day was pleasant and we ended up eating on the terrace. We ordered a Shepperd Pie and the famous Fish n ‘Chips, it was the first taste of English pub food which did not surprise but it did help to tuck in the stomach for the rest of the day.

Continuámos a pé até aos Kensington Gardens , os jardins e parques são sempre o que mais me impressiona em Londres, este ainda mais por carregar consigo uma parte da história da sua monarquia, está claramente ligado á Rainha Victória e ao seu marido, o Príncipe Alberto. Mas nele encontramos também uma homenagem á Princesa Diana em forma de parque infantil demonstrando a sua paixão pelas crianças.
We continued on foot to Kensington Gardens, gardens and parks are always what impresses me the most in London, this even more because it carries with it a part of the history of its monarchy, is clearly connected to Queen Victoria and her husband, Prince Albert . But in it we also find a homage to Princess Diana in the form of a playground demonstrating her passion for children.
Junto aos jardins está o Palácio de Kensington, a parte que podemos visitar é a dos reinado do século XIX e XVIII, onde viveram o Rei Jorge II e mais tarde a Princesa Victoria que se tornaria rainha de Inglaterra. Aqui viveu também a Princesa Diana e agora o seu filho o Príncipe William com a mulher. No seu interior seguimos com a história de Victória e Alberto, com objectos pessoais e encontramos também uma exposição de vestidos da actual rainha de Inglaterra, Isabel II.
Next to the gardens is the Kensington Palace, the part we can visit is the reign of the nineteenth and eighteenth century, where lived King George II and later Princess Victoria who would become Queen of England. Here also lived Princess Diana and now her son Prince William with his wife. In its interior we go on with the history of Victoria and Alberto, with personal objects and we also find an exhibition of dresses of the present queen of England, Elizabeth II.
De volta aos jardins passámos pelo Albert’s Memorial, uma homenagem ao príncipe consorte da Rainha Victoria e á sua fascinante história de amor. Quatro estátuas representando a Europa, América, Ásia e África rodeiam o monumento onde um Príncipe Alberto dourado se destaca, na sua mão o livro da Grande Exposição.
Back in the gardens we passed Albert’s Memorial, a tribute to Queen Victoria’s consort and their fascinating love story. Four statues representing Europe, America, Asia and Africa surround the monument where a golden Prince Albert stands out and in his hand you can see the book of the Great Exhibition.
Atravessamos a estrada e continuam as homenagens ao Príncipe consorte com a espantosa sala de espectáculos circular que é o Royal Albert Hall. São vários os artistas que por aqui passaram e gravaram os seus concertos para depois lançar em DVD ou como video. Uma das mais recentes foi Adele mas por estes palcos passaram os Oasis, os The Corrs, membros dos Stones, Sarah Brightman, entre outros.
We crossed the road and the tributes to the Prince consort continue with the amazing circular theater that is the Royal Albert Hall. There are several artists who have come and recorded their concerts and then release on DVD or as a video. One of the most recent was Adele but through these stages passed the Oasis, The Corrs, members of the Stones, Sarah Brightman, among others.
Ansiosos por conhecer o famoso Burger & Lobster, fomos até ao Harvey Nichols (os grandes armazéns de luxo em Knightsbridge) que era o mais próximo da zona onde estávamos, aqui descobrimos o seu Fifth Floor, o food market da cadeia. Enquanto esperávamos pela mesa fomos espreitar as suas prateleiras cheias de produtos gourmet, a sua pequena livraria de cozinha e os outros restaurantes que encontramos neste interessante espaço dedicado ao bom comer.
Looking forward to seeing the famous Burger & Lobster, we went to Harvey Nichols (the upscale department store in Knightsbridge) which was the closest to the area we were in, here we discovered its Fifth Floor, the chain food market. While we waited for the table we went peeking its shelves full of gourmet products, its small kitchen bookstore and the other restaurants we found in this interesting space dedicated to good eating.
Depois de uma pequena e agradável espera para ter mesa no Burger & Lobster conseguimos finalmente entender o porquê de tanta fama e azáfama. Eu adoro Lobster rolls (iguaria que provámos em NYC) e aqui fazem um muito bom com um delicioso pão de brioche tostado e um recheio de lagosta bastante generoso.
After a small and pleasant wait to have a table at Burger & Lobster we finally got to understand why so much fame and bustle. I love Lobster rolls (delicacy we tasted in NYC) and here they make a very good one with a delicious toasted brioche bread and a lobster filling quite generous.
Ao sair do Burger & Lobster dei de caras com a brilhante fachada do hotel de cinco estrelas Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, adorei o edificio que tem vista para o parque.
On leaving Burger & Lobster I faced the brilliant facade of the five-star Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, I loved the building that overlooks the park.
Foi mesmo no Hyde Park que terminámos o dia, um pouco exaustos ainda ficámos a apreciar o pôr do sol sobre o Lago e depois fazer mais uma caminhada para entrar no bairro onde está o nosso hotel.
It was right in Hyde Park that we finished the day, a little exhausted yet we were enjoying the sunset over the lake and then doing another walk to go to the neighborhood where our hotel is.
