Com uma impressionante vista para o rio Huécar, as casas suspensas ou “colgadas” são sem dúvida um dos maiores símbolos da cidade de Cuenca e provavelmente as mais fotografadas. Construídas num rochedo entre os séculos XIV e XV, foram remodeladas no século XX e hoje albergam um restaurante e um museu.
With an impressive view of the Huécar River, hanging or “colgadas” houses are undoubtedly one of the greatest symbols of the city of Cuenca and probably the most photographed. Built on a cliff between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, they were remodeled in the twentieth century and now house a restaurant and a museum.
Diz-se terem existido muitas mais, mas actualmente está a Casa de la Sirena (com as varandas em madeira) e as duas Casas del Rey. Uma das melhores vistas para as casas é atravessando a ponte de San Pablo até á outra margem e aproveitar não só a maravilhosa vista sobre as Casas Colgadas como de toda a parte antiga de Cuenca.
It is said that there have been many more, but at present there is the Casa de la Sirena (with the wooden balconies) and the two Casas del Rey. One of the best views of the houses is crossing the bridge of San Pablo to the other bank and enjoy not only the wonderful view over the Hanging Houses as well as the whole old part of Cuenca.
