Construído com o tijolo vermelho que caracteriza a cidade, o Convento dos Jacobinos foi fundado por uma ordem dominicana. A igreja pode ser visitada sem pagar mas para ver o claustro e o resto de salas do convento a entrada custa 4€ para adultos. Foi fundado no século XIII e tem de tudo um pouco para contemplar: vitrais, frescos e a tranquilidade do seu jardim.
Built with the red brick that characterizes the city, the Jacobins’ Convent was founded by a Dominican order. The church can be visited without paying but to see the cloister and the rest of the convent’s rooms the entrance costs 4 € for adults. It was founded in the 13th century and has a bit of everything to contemplate: stained glass, frescoes and the tranquility of your garden.
Dentro da igreja é importante olhar para o tecto e para a sua decoração inspirada nas palmeiras. No altar podemos ver as reliquias de Tomás de Aquino, podem passar desapercibidas. Entrámos depois ao claustro e aos seus jardins, aqui encontramos duas das salas mais importante, a capitular decorada com santos dominicanos e a capela de Santo Antonin onde encontrámos uns bonitos frescos no tecto e paredes.
Inside the church it is important to look at the ceiling and its decoration inspired by palm trees. On the altar we can see the relics of Thomas Aquinas, they can go unnoticed. We then entered the cloister and its gardens, here we find two of the most important rooms, the capitular decorated with Dominican saints and the chapel of Santo Antonin where we found beautiful frescoes on the ceiling and walls.
