Nasceram nesta igreja uma das festas mais conhecidas de Braga, as que prestam homenagem a São João que se celebram em Junho e são das mais populares de Portugal. Foi construída no século XVIII e mesmo ao lado está a Capela da Casa dos Coimbra que foi construída no século XVI e cujo palácio original foi demolido, reconstruído noutra zona recuperando alguns dos seus principais elementos.
This church was born in one of the most famous festivals in Braga, the ones that pay homage to St. John, which are celebrated in June and are among the most popular in Portugal. It was built in the 18th century and right next to it is the Chapel of the Coimbra House which was built in the 16th century and whose original palace was demolished, rebuilt in another area recovering some of its main elements.
É possível visitar a igreja que é bastante pequena tem o seu interior decorado com o estilo barroco e com azulejos azuis. Está muito bem cuidada e tem detalhes muito interessantes. A Capela não visitámos, a sua reduzida fachada exterior mostra a sua decoração de inspiração gótica do século XIV.
It is possible to visit the church which is quite small has its interior decorated in the baroque style and with blue tiles. It is very well cared for and has very interesting details. The Chapel we did not visit, its small exterior façade shows its decoration of Gothic inspiration of the XIV century.
