São boas as memórias que tenho da Ericeira e das minhas férias de Verão aqui quando era adolescente, vivia numa zona onde o surf já era um desporto importante mas aqui a dimensão era outra.  Do que me lembro de Ribeira d’Ilhas, para além das ondas era as carrinhas velhas que serviam de caravanas que surfistas de outros países utilizavam para chegar até aqui e dormir, durante muito tempo, eles eram a “multidão” nesta praia que mesmo em Agosto não enchia demasiado…agora tudo mudou.

I have very good memories of Ericeira and my summer holidays herewhen I was a teenager, I lived in an area where surfing was already an important sport but here the dimension was different. From what I remember of Ribeira d’Ilhas, besides the waves the old vans that used to be caravans that surfers from other countries used to get here and sleep, for a long time, they were the “crowd” on this beach that even in August did not fill too much … now everything has changed.

Fomos num dia de semana de Julho e a Ericeira tem de estas coisas, podes levar fato de banho e estar um dia para esquecer, podes não decidir não levar e está glorioso, o ideal é ir sempre preparados para as duas coisas. Continua a ser importante para o surf e na moderna zona de apoio para além do restaurante com esplanada estão várias escolas onde se pode aprender, alugar equipamento, etc.. Num dos acessos á praia, o que se faz a pé com uma grande escadaria está a estátua de bronze de um surfista que observa as ondas, não podia haver maior homenagem ao ritual que vi diáriamente quando aqui vinha dos que paravam naquele lugar com as suas pranchas a ver se estavam reunidas todas as condições para o surf.

We went on a weekday in July and Ericeira has these things, you can take a bathing suit and be a day to forget, you can not decide not to take and it is glorious, the ideal is always to be prepared for both. It is still important for surfing and in the modern support area, besides the restaurant with terrace, there are several schools where you can learn, rent equipment, etc. In one of the accesses to the beach, what is done on foot with a great staircase is the bronze statue of a surfer watching the waves, there could be no greater homage to the ritual I saw daily when coming here from those who stopped in that place with their boards to see if all the conditions for surfing were met.
