O Passeio Marítimo é um excelente plano para conhecer a outra face de Barcelona, a que deixa o centro para trás e se dedica a contemplar o mar. Nós decidimos ir pedalando nas nossas bicicletas alugadas (que também eram eléctricas) e saltar de praia em praia aproveitando para ver a arquitetura que lhe dá um toque mais moderno com obras de Frank Gehry ou o Hotel W desenhado por Ricardo Bofill.
The Paseo Marítimo is an excellent plan to get to know the other side of Barcelona, leaving the center behind and contemplating the sea. We decided to go cycling on our rented bikes (which were also electric) and jump from beach to beach taking advantage to see the architecture that gives it a more modern touch with works by Frank Gehry or the Hotel W designed by Ricardo Bofill.
Começámos o nosso trajecto a partir do bairro da Barceloneta, para trás fica o tal hotel W, um polémico edificio pela sua altura e por estar tão perto do mar, desenhado como uma vela. Aqui passamos pela praia com o mesmo nome do bairro e também pela Somorrostro, para ser um fim de semana de Verão e na cidade não estavam muito cheias. Na linha da vila olímpica construída em 1992, decidem recuperar a zona marítima construíndo dois edificios como a Torre Mapfre e o Hotel Arts, junto aos mesmo vemos o agora icónico Pez Dorado de Frank Gehry, construído na mesma ocasião. Chegámos ao Porto Olímpico cheio de barcos á vela e passámos depois pela praias de Nova Icaria e Bogatell onde demos a volta para repetir o caminho até voltar a Barceloneta outra vez para almoçar, tínhamos que provar a famosa Bomba que nasceu nesse bairro.
We started our journey from the neighborhood of Barceloneta, behind is the Hotel W, a controversial building by its height and being so close to the sea, designed as a sail. Here we passed the beach with the same name of the neighborhood and also by the Somorrostro, to be a summer weekend and in the city they were not very full. Along the line of the Olympic village built in 1992, they decided to recover the maritime zone by building two buildings such as Mapfre Tower and Hotel Arts, next to them we see Frank Gehry’s now iconic Golden Fish, built on the same occasion. We arrived at the Olympic Port full of sailing boats and then we passed the beaches of Nova Icaria and Bogatell where we went back to repeat the same pathway back to Barceloneta again for lunch, we had to taste the famous “Bomba” that was born in that neighborhood.
