Ao entrar no Ground Zero foi impossível não pensar que estás na presença de um grande cemitério e é verdade que em algumas cidades chegam a recomendar que visitemos algum para ver a campa de alguém famoso ou porque estavam enterrados soldados mas aqui sentia algo diferente. Senti que de certa forma eu vi estas pessoas morrerem em directo na televisão, vimos as torres colapsar e voltas a reviver esse dia.
Em teoria a entrada é gratuita mas pedem um donativo antes de entrar, recomendam entre 5-10usd se dás a última quantia oferecem uma pulseira. Tivémos que caminhar um pouco até chegar ás duas piscinas reflectoras, passamos por toda a zona da construção e consegui ver de mais perto o novo World Trade Center 1 que está quase a terminar.
Upon entering the Ground Zero it was impossible not to think that you’re in the presence of a large cemetery and it is true that in some cities they even recommend us to visit some to see the grave of someone famous or because soldiers are buried there but felt something different. I felt that somehow I watched these people die on live television, we saw the towers collapse and you relive that day all over again.
In theory entrance is free but they ask for a donation before entering they recommend between 5 – 10usd if you give the last sum they offer a bracelet. We had to walk a bit until you get to the two reflecting pools, we passed all the construction zone and could see more closely the new World Trade Center 1 which is almost finished.
Foram colocadas na zona onde existiam as antigas torres e o som da água a cair é de certa forma tranquilizador, talvez seja essa a intenção, é um espaço de reflexão e de respeito pelo o que se passou. Á volta estão colocados painéis de bronze com os nomes das vitimas separados pelas Torres (Norte e Sul), pelos que iam nos aviões, pelas vítimas do Pentágono e também de um outro ataque na mesma zona que aconteceu em 1993.
Não fiquei muito tempo, tirei algumas fotos e ainda fui espreitar a loja. Têm um ecrã que vai passando alguns documentários, fiquei algum tempo a ver um com as descrições dos familiares, dos que perderam alguém querido nesse dia e quando olhei á volta algumas pessoas iam deixando escapar uma lágrima.
They were placed where the old towers were and the sound of water fall is in a way something peaceful, perhaps this is the intentio , it is a space for reflection and respect for what happened. Around are placed bronze panels with the names of victims divided by the two towers ( North and South ), those the aircrafts, the victims of the Pentagon and also another attack in the same area that happened in 1993 .
I did not stay long, took some pictures and I took a peak at the store. It has a screen that plays some documentaries, I stayed some time to see one with the descriptions of the families, who lost a loved one that day and when I looked back some people couldn’t hold a tear.
