In many european cities the square that has the town hall is usually the most important or the most magnificent, it is not the case with modest square of the city of Lisbon. It is small and perhaps not the most interesting city, the Rossio, the Terreiro do Paço and Figueira Square end up being the most iconic.
Yet it is here that we see the Town Hall or the City Council installed in a neo-classical building. At the center is the pillory built after the earthquake in the eighteenth century.

Modest in size but rich in history such as the Proclamation of the Republic on 5 October 1910. For me one of the main attractions of this square is actually it’s floor the “calçada” with it’s geometric design.
